Chapter 18 - THE SUNSET IS BEAUTIFUL ISN'T IT

Ethan walks into Anya's hospital room, but he doesn't see her in the bed where she usually lies. Confused and a bit anxious, he starts to look around the room for any clues. He notices that her wheelchair is missing too.

"Where could she be?" Ethan murmurs to himself, feeling a pang of worry in his chest.

As he stands there, lost in thought, he hears a soft knock on the door. He turns to see a nurse peering inside, looking for Anya.

"Excuse me, have you seen Anya?" the nurse asks Ethan, her voice hushed and gentle.

Ethan shakes his head, his heart beginning to race. "No, I just got here and she's not in her bed."

The nurse nods, looking slightly concerned. "Let me check with the other nurses and see if anyone has seen her. She shouldn't be wandering around on her own."

Ethan nods, feeling a knot form in his stomach. He starts to pace back and forth, praying that Anya is safe.

After a few agonizing minutes, the nurse returns and informs Ethan that Anya has gone to the park across the street. Ethan rushes out of the hospital room and sprints to the park, his heart pounding in his chest.

As he enters the park, he sees Anya sitting on a bench, watching the sunset. She looks serene, but there's a sad smile on her lips.

Ethan walks up to her slowly, not wanting to startle her. "Anya, what are you doing here? You shouldn't be out of bed."

Anya turns to him, her eyes softening at the sight of him. "I wanted to see the sunset one last time," she says, her voice barely above a whisper. "The sunset is beautiful, isn't it?"

Ethan nods, sitting down beside her on the bench. "Yes, it is. But you should be resting, Anya. You're not well."

Anya smiles sadly. "I know, Ethan. But I don't have much time left. I want to make the most of the time I have left, and appreciate the beauty of life, even in its final moments."

Ethan's heart aches as he looks at her, realizing how strong and brave she is, even in the face of death. He takes her hand in his, holding it gently.

"I'll stay with you, Anya," he says, his voice choked with emotion. "I'll be here until the end, no matter what."

Anya looks at him, her eyes filling with tears. "Thank you, Ethan. For everything. You've made my life so beautiful."

Ethan leans in and kisses her forehead, his heart overflowing with love and sadness. "I love you, Anya," he says, his voice trembling. "Always and forever."

Anya smiles, her eyes closing. "I love you too, Ethan," she whispers, her voice barely audible. "Always and forever."

Anya had been quiet for a while, lost in thought. She turned to Ethan with a sad smile on her face.

"Ethan, do you ever think about the future?" she asked.

Ethan looked at her, confused. "What do you mean?" he asked.

"I mean, if I was able to survive this illness, what would we do?" Anya explained. "Would we get married? Have children? Live a happy life together?"

Ethan's heart sank as he realized what she was asking. He took her hand in his and held it tightly.

"Of course we would," he said softly. "I love you, Anya. And if there's even the slightest chance that you could survive this, we'll make it happen. We'll have the happiest life together."

Anya's eyes filled with tears as she looked into Ethan's eyes. "Thank you," she said. "That's all I wanted to hear."

They sat in silence for a few moments, watching the sun dip below the horizon. Ethan knew that this moment was precious and that he needed to make the most of it.

"Anya, I want you to know that no matter what happens, I will always love you," he said. "You have shown me the beauty of life, even in the face of hardship. And for that, I will be forever grateful."

Anya leaned her head on Ethan's shoulder and smiled. "Thank you, Ethan","I love you too."

They sat there together, watching the sunset and reflecting on their time together. It was a beautiful moment, one that Ethan would always cherish, no matter what the future held.

Ethan sat on the bench in the park, watching the sun slowly sinking below the horizon. He felt a hand on his shoulder, and turned to see Anya standing next to him, a gentle smile on her face.

"Ethan," Anya said suddenly, "if I am reborn, will you marry me?"

He looked at her, tears streaming down his face. "Yes, Anya," he said. "I will marry you in any life, in any form."

Anya's smile grew wider, and she leaned in to kiss him. It was a gentle, loving kiss, filled with all the tenderness and sweetness they had shared in their time together.

As they pulled apart, Anya's eyes grew heavy, and she leaned back against the bench, her breathing growing shallow.

"Ethan," she whispered, "I'm so glad I met you. Thank you for everything."

And with those words, Anya closed her eyes and took her final breath, her hand still clasped in Ethan's.

Ethan felt a lump in his throat as he watched Anya's lifeless body lying in his arms. Tears welled up in his eyes and he couldn't hold them back anymore. He let out a heartbreaking cry, his body shaking with grief.

"Why did you have to leave me?" he whispered to Anya, his voice choked with emotion. "We had so many plans...we were supposed to have a future together."

He held her hand tightly, as if trying to keep her from slipping away. But it was too late. Anya was gone, and all Ethan could do was cry.

Aaron and Lisa approached him, their faces etched with sorrow. They knew how much Anya meant to Ethan, and their hearts went out to him.

"Ethan, I'm so sorry," Aaron said, his voice low and gentle. "She's in a better place now."

But Ethan couldn't accept that. He wanted Anya by his side, always and forever. He wished he could turn back time and change the course of fate.

He looked up at the sky, the sun setting in the distance. It was as if the world was mocking him, moving on without Anya. But he knew deep down that he would never be able to move on from her.

"She's gone...forever," he said, his voice barely audible. "I don't know how to go on without her."

Aaron and Lisa hugged him tightly, offering their support and comfort. But nothing could ease the pain in his heart.

Ethan knew that life would never be the same again. But he would always cherish the memories he had with Anya, and hold onto the love they shared.
