Rayne POV
The battle surged around us, a storm of snarling wolves and flashing steel. Every breath was a struggle as I pushed forward, my blade swinging wildly. My muscles screamed in protest, but I refused to stop. Not while my pack needed me.
Kael and Mateo fought back-to-back, their movements almost in sync despite their mutual hatred. Kael's blade glinted in the moonlight, a blur of lethal precision, while Mateo's sheer strength left crushed wolves in his wake.
"Rayne, stay close!" Kael barked, cutting down a shadow wolf that lunged toward me.
"I can handle myself!" I snapped, slashing at another wolf.
"You're not invincible!" Kael growled, his tone sharper than his blade.
Mateo shoved a wolf off him and glared at Kael. "Focus on the fight, lover boy, or she won't have to worry about invincibility."
"Shut up, Mateo!" I shouted, frustration boiling over.
