Chapter 26 - Inside The Forest.

My breath came in short, ragged gasps as i gazed at the forest before me.

The abyssal trees loomed, their twisted branches like skeletal hands reaching for the heavens.

Yet what really caught my attention wasn't the endless shadows that pooled around them nor the endless darkness that swarmed over my vision.

What really dreaded me!

Sseized my breath and sent a wave of shock rippling through me were not the trees, nor the shadows that danced in the endless darkness.

It was the bodies- dozens, hundreds, thousands- hanging limply from the boughs, skeletal and shriveled, their hollow empty socket stared sightlessly into the endless darkness.

I could only imagine just how many were killed to come up with such an odd amount of dried bones.

Worse still, they reeked of decay, ancient blood and had a stomach-revolting stench that almost forced me to spit out everything within me.

'...Who the hell are they?'
