Chapter 37 - Chapter 37: Killing the Level 8 Boss

### Chapter 37: Killing the Level 8 Boss

"Let's go, let's not level up! Let's organize people to clear the dungeon!" The red-eyed black dragon sheathed his sword excitedly.

"What's the matter?" The beautiful Wing Shenlong squinted at him. "Did Nemesis assign you another task?"

"How did you know?" The red-eyed black dragon stiffened at the question.

Before he could respond further, the Sky Dragon Little Lolita chimed in with a smile, "We can tell who you're chatting with just by looking at that dog-licking expression, Uncle Zhenhong."

"Seriously…" The true red-eyed black dragon sighed, feeling flustered.

Little Lolita wasn't done, "Come on, spill it. You've never been so active with the tasks that the president assigns you!"

Faced with the teasing of his teammates, the red-eyed black dragon decided he had enough. He waved his hand dismissively. "Okay, let's head back to the village first."

He took the lead towards Novice Village, ignoring the banter from his teammates.

On the way back, the true red-eyed black dragon opened the private chat interface and forwarded the conversation he had with Nemesis to his guild leader, the **Blood Emperor**. He added, "President, I think it's better for our guild not to take the 'chaotic evil' route."

"I've found a great opportunity to collaborate with Nemesis, and we have more chances to tread the 'white path' now."

Meanwhile, Su Yu arrived at the area where the level 8 wild monster, **Woodland Brown Bear**, was located. A few players were scattered around, all serious about their grinding. These dedicated players were online since midnight, working hard to gain experience.

Some of the standout players had already reached level 7, surpassing Su Yu by two levels. However, Su Yu remained unfazed; everyone had a daily limit of 12 hours of gameplay, making their early and late grinding roughly equivalent.

He wandered through the monster area until he found a secluded spot where no other players could see him and began his grind.

Su Yu's leveling strategy had become more aggressive than before. He used to take down monsters one at a time, but now he could lure three or four grizzly bears together and unleash his **Chain Lightning** spell, doubling his leveling efficiency!

Unfortunately, the **Woodland Grizzly Bears** were relatively scattered, so Su Yu often wasted time pulling them together. If he could find a location with plenty of monsters, he could reach the next level in just a couple of minutes. But with his current setup, it took him nearly 40 minutes to level up from 5 to 6.

After 40 minutes, Su Yu finally reached level 6, his spell power now increasing to 63 points. He didn't stop to check his panel; instead, he continued to lure and kill monsters, aiming to reach level 7 before heading to the level 9 monster area.

Twenty minutes later, a loud bear roar echoed through the forest, much more powerful than that of an ordinary bear.

"Come on!" Su Yu's eyes lit up, glancing toward the source of the roar.

A giant bear, its dark brown body larger than the typical brown bear, emerged in front of him.

**[Woodland Brown Bear Leader lv8 (Excellent)]**

**HP:** 1200

"Another excellent quality boss!" Su Yu concentrated, preparing to engage.

The bear's roar reverberated throughout the entire wild monster area, attracting the attention of the dedicated players leveling up nearby.

The liver emperors looked at Su Yu's location with curiosity.

"Who triggered the level 8 boss?" one asked.

"Looks like someone is in trouble; there's no way to run from a level 8 boss!" another laughed.

"Poor guy, what a waste of game time."

They continued chatting among themselves, unaware of the brewing action.

**13-**

**15-**

**17**

A series of damage numbers began to appear above the **Woodland Grizzly Leader** as Su Yu unleashed his spells, watching its HP gradually decrease.

However, after a few moments, they all noticed something strange.

"Wait a minute! Why hasn't that player died yet?" one liver emperor asked.

"Not only that, but I can hear the boss's painful howls! Monsters typically only howl like that when they've lost 30% of their HP in a short time!" another exclaimed.

"Who's taking on the Grizzly boss?"

Ow—woo—

As they puzzled over the situation, the grizzly boss emitted a dying whimper, causing all the liver emperors to gaze in disbelief at Su Yu's spot.

"What's happening? Is the boss going down?"

"It's only been less than 8 seconds! How is that possible?"

"Is someone using a cheat to kill the boss?"

Due to the distance, they couldn't see what was happening with Su Yu. The group of liver emperors rushed toward his location, curiosity piqued.

Upon arrival, they found only the lifeless body of the **Woodland Grizzly Leader** and no sign of any other players.

Gathering around the boss's corpse, they inspected the traces of magic lingering in the air, confusion etched on their faces.

"What's going on? Could there be a bug in the game system that caused the grizzly boss to die?"

"Or was it really a player who killed it? I've heard rumors that Nemesis is active in No. 6 Novice Village. Could he have done this?"

"I doubt it! If it were Nemesis, wouldn't there be some sign of him around? Did anyone see a player named 'Kexing' or any anonymous player pass by?"

"Nope."

"Not me either."

"Me neither."

The liver emperors shook their heads in unison.

At that moment, Su Yu canceled his **Invisibility** and stepped out from behind a tree dozens of meters away from the players.

"Players watching the fun are really troublesome. I'd better head to the level 9 monster area," he sighed lightly, walking away.

Just moments before, when Su Yu faced the grizzly boss, he had initially thought it would take no more than 3 seconds to take down the 1200 HP boss with his spell power of 63. However, the boss had used **Iron Fist** to reduce incoming damage and cast **Furious Recovery** to regain a chunk of health, dragging the battle out to 8 seconds.

Regardless, Su Yu successfully defeated the boss.

Afterward, he noticed the nearby players approaching and quickly used **Invisibility** to leave the scene undetected, choosing to keep his accomplishment a secret.

Fortunately, since it was the first boss kill on the entire server, the loot from the Grizzly Leader was substantial:

- **Cloth Top:** [Fan Windbreaker (Excellent) lv8]

- **Mail Gloves:** [Dread-Scale Handguards (Excellent) lv8]

- **Skill Scroll:** [Frost Nova (Excellent)]

- **Skill Scroll:** [Sliding Shovel (Normal)]

- **Item:** [Woodland Grizzly Bear Leader's Paw (Excellent)] x1

The **Cloth Top** and **Frost Nova** were useful for Su Yu. The **Sliding Shovel** was an archer skill that would benefit archers following the "Taiju Style" in the future.

Su Yu learned the **Frost Nova** scroll and upgraded it to rare quality.

**[Frost Nova (Rare)]:** Deals 100% spell power frost damage to all enemies within 15 meters, freezing them for 4 seconds. Instant cast, 30-second cooldown, costs 30 mana.
