"Leave this to your man," the Lycan Queen said to the Alpha King as he dressed up in his armor for war.
"Of what good am I if I stay back and let my man do the work? I'm not much of an Alpha if I do that. Kade cannot disrespect me and live—nobody does that," the Alpha replied and shook his head, his eyes transforming into a blazing orange.
"My Lord, we do not have our moonstone. This is suicide! The enemy has us right where they want us—to leave our territory and be weak. If we go out there, we will lose, and I cannot lose you."
The King wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into a hug. "I'm going to be careful, and I know I'm stubborn sometimes, but these wolves must fear us. You know our lands cannot produce much like theirs. If they weaken us, the rest of them will come at us from every angle possible and make sure none of us survive. We have to do this—for our sake and the sake of our future generations. Tell me you understand."
