Mia rubbed her eyes vigorously as the torturous noise of warning bells seeped into her sleep. "What the hell is going on?" she muttered, her fingers trailing around her neck. She could still feel the pain from it being snapped. "Kade," she growled. That was when, fully awake, she felt the sharp bend of something around her legs and her left hand as well. The wrist of her left hand and both her legs had been tied up against the cells within which she had been kept about a week and two days ago and prepared for a death sentence.
At the exit, she saw Lyra was leaving, so she called out. "Lyra, release me right now!"
Lyra turned around to see she was awake and looked at her. For the first time, Mia could swear she saw a little bit of concern in her eyes, but that concern disappeared at once.
