Just, take it careful. Remember the lessons." Tom advice as he check the instruments a last time.
I nod and open a comchannel to Voyager "Hiver here, we are ready. Pop the hatch."
"Opening shuttlebay doors. Good luck."
Smiling I put my hands on the LCARs panel, just gently increasing the power until the ship float of the deckplates and Tom pipes up again
"Careful, adjust for the drift." as I bring her slowly around, carefully avoiding the shuttle parked next to her old landing place
"I think I have this..." I say with a smile as I carefully edge her out of the hangar.
She came through B'Elannas inspections without any major problems. Then we just needed to connect her to Voyagers powergrid to start up the Anniplant and she where on independent power. The gravity generators needed some adjustment to bring it up to optimal power but other than that things went well.
"She is a bit sluggish. What do you readings say?" I ask as I glance over my shoulder at seven who are monitoring the engineering equipment.
"There is a slight imbalance in the sublight propulsion system. I'm adjusting to compensate." she report and I smile
"There we go...much better..." as I bring her around to a parallel course to Voyager, doing a slow roll "It's a bit different than flying a shuttle. She have a kind of inertia but is also more responsive."
"Let me have a look." Tom ask as he take the controls from the copilot seat. He do some simple maneuvers "You are right, she feel more like a atmospheric craft than a shuttle. Might be the propulsion system."
I nod and take back control "Ready for Warp test, Seven?"
"All systems nominal." she report and I nod
"Bringing up the warp engines. Warp 1 in Three...Two...One...Engage." and I bring up the warp field and we are suddenly moving FTL "Warp 1...reached. Warpfield is looking stable."
"Warp field geometry stable. Warp engines nominal." Seven report and I nod
"Ok...let's see what she can do. Ready with the killswitch Tom?" I ask as I glance over at the copilot seat as he nod
"Ready." and put his hand on the killswitch for the warpdrive. Better to kill it at once if it is about to overload or something instead of frying it completely risking being stranded until voyager find us.
"Ok..dialing it up." I say as I start to slowly feed them more power "Warp 2...Warp 3...Warp 5...Seven?"
"Warp engines and Annihilation powerplant stable. Drive systems nominal. Power at 30%" she report and I nod
"Ok...Warp 7...Warp 8...Tom?"
"Everything looking good here. We might want to install this kind of systems in our shuttles, the class 2 can only handle Warp 4. How are things looking Seven?"
She check her instruments again "All systems stable. Warpdrive at 70%."
Grinning I start to push it again "Warp 9...Warp 9.5...Warp 9.55...Warp 9.56...That's all she have. Slowing down..." I report as I slowly dial it back to Warp 5 while slowly turning it back in the direction of Voyager. "Damn thing is some ship..."
As we move in for landing in Voyagers shuttlebay a few hours later Tom glance over to me "So...what are you going to call her? All ships need a name."
I simply grin and lean back in my seat "Serenity. Her name is Serenity."
AN// Drone wont happen. It's one of those episodes that got to many plotholes to overlook even by Voyager standards.
