Chapter 26 - Medical leave

Three weeks later I'm sitting my my quarters tinkering with the small drone. Having had over two weeks of from any duties I have had plenty of time messing with it, even with time spent in the holdeck talking a holographic councilor.

I carefully use my right manipulator mechadendrite to realign the control interface connector before fastening it in place and doing another scan. My mechadendrites are back like normal but the connections are still the bigger versions, instead they are installed using a adapter.

Both my eyes look the same like normal even if I still have the same metal arch over my left eye as Seven do. My right arm look normal as well, even if the Doctor couldn't replace it with a biological one, he could grow the tissue to make it look normal.

I still got the borg shield generator installed, but its offline as its on automatic control normally. Until Seven and I have time to build a neural control system, it will remain off.

The combat mechadendrites are mounted on my wall in case of emergency. Given five minutes I can change them out solo.

Voyager arrived at a asteroid belt around a unclaimed star earlier this week and have started to assemble mining equipment to extract minerals from the rock floating next to us. They estimate at least a month of work to extract the minerals and mounting a extra layer of hull metal on the ship.

Just one of my suggestions they have started to implement.

I have however not been involved in any of it. Doctors orders.

Carefully I mount the power cell again and activate the device. It float of the workbench and I reach over to tap a couple of buttons on the controller making it float a circuit around my quarters. Good, it didn't try to hump my lamp this time.

Bringing it down again I get to work on trying to get the sensors working like I want them to.

Some things from my lists are being implemented, like mandatory security and medical training for all crew. Everyone also have one hour a week at the holo councilor. Once I'm cleared back for duty I am to work with Tuvok to work out training scenarios and programs on the holodeck. Apparently sometimes its good to come from a 'militarized culture'.

Other things are not being installed, like phaser strips in the hallways or pop up machine gun turrets...but honestly I can see why. If they where subverted they could kill the entire crew in moments.

But other things are, like having the computer constantly keep track of all lifeforms on the ship and if there is suddenly a new one, it sound the alarm(and the other way around).

Humming softly I smile slightly, putting the sensor array to the side for a moment. I got a time on the holodeck again. Honestly, I think this psychological thing is working, it seem that its actually one of the things the Federation might be competent enough at.

The nightmares have cut down to one per night.
