Chapter 29 - A new ship ...

My second experience of being frozen was quite a bit shorter than my last one. Seven did a good job, even if not even her implants could keep up during the last couple of days.

Still, was good when it was over.

During the last couple of weeks nothing have been happening. I frown slightly as I check the sensors as Tuvok stand to the side, observing as the Captain look back at me "Mr Hiver, report." and I nod while tweaking the frequency of the sensors, trying to clear things up

"From what I can see, its a derelict ship Captain. No lifesigns, no power readings. That thing have been sitting here for a long while from the micro meteorite damage on the hull."

Tuvok make a quick check "I concur Captain. That interpretation of the readings are appear quite correct. The ship appear to be at least five thousand years old."

I tap my finger softly on the side of the Console as I watch the readings of the ship. It's small. Bigger than a shuttle but slightly smaller than Neelix ship.

I hesitate for a moment before looking up "Captain...assuming if its deemed safe..." and she glance back at me again

"Yes?"

"Can I have it?" I ask with a grin

She look slightly confused "You want a five thousand year old ship?"

I quickly nod "Yes please. Even if it turn out to be more primitive than Voyager, it would be nice to have something to tinker with that don't risk destroying something important. Besides, I have always wanted my own starship."

She glance at Chakotay who shrug "We have room in the shuttlebay. Assuming its safe I see no problem with it."

Nodding she give me a smile "If we are able to determine if its safe, I see no problem with salvaging it. Don't use ship resources on it though, you have your replicator rations for that." and I quickly nod.

Not to say I wasn't fucking paranoid about it. Derelict starships are a gooood way of getting dead or worse. I was running every scan with Harry we could think of before even taking it into the shuttlebay.

Even then we keep the bay empty of air and use vacuum suits to do close range scans with tricorders before even checking inside. I have played Homeworld: Cataclysm.

It turned out it was a bit of a waste of time in this case. The ship was empty of everything. The entire computer system was even fried which would explain why nobody salvaged it before now.

The scans indicate it at some point of time was hit with some kind of ion weaponry that destroyed the entire computer system. No trace of the crew though so they must have been saved.

As for looks...Its angular and grey. Also, its bigger inside than it look on the outside. Not in a tardis way, but more of a efficient design way. It do have a warpdrive(we think), but all controls are completely fried and it's been completely shut down for five thousand years so hell if anybody know how good it is.

Tom just shake his head and cross his arms as he look at it "This thing is a piece of scrap metal. I mean, it have five thousand years of micro meteorite impacts all over the hull, not to mention every piece of technology in is being fried. Why did you want this thing again?"

I just grin up at it like a loon "I have a starship."

He simply look at me "You have a piece of scrap metal. You know, if you really wanted a ship it would be easier to build one from scratch than trying to repair this thing."

I just grin.

AN// There is a five month gap between One and Hope and Fear. I would figure something like this could happen between there. Something Voyager would take a idle scan of before continuing normally. And yes, i said no update today. I got bored, ok.

As for looks, its something like this but smaller and without the thing sticking up.
