Voyager had been under warp for two weeks after the small refit when the warp engines suddenly stall in deep space.
Moments later the Omega symbol appear on all monitors and the Captain storm into the bridge, order us all to ignore it and then head into her ready room for 16 hours.
Yeah, that went over about as well as somebody sneaking a second sugar cube into my Tea. Still, I know what's going on thought and I have a good idea how people will react so I let them get on with things.
Turns out I butterflied things...kind of badly. The delay for the refit had not only caused us to completely miss the bodyjumping test pilot who likely died in deep space, but also gave the species creating Omega molecules also had time to rebuild their lab...and blow it up again.
This time it was worse, destroying their system and causing their star to go nova as well as causing a 50ly no Warp zone sphere.
All this we learned when the Captain briefed us on the situation. We had to take the long way around, but at least it turn out a Nova is a effective way to wiping out Omega molecules or this entire quadrant would be fucked when it come to FTL until somebody invent quantum slipstream.
The almost two month detour also meant we missed the species that's always hidden as well.
And now we are face to face with a giant sapient killing radioactive nebula.
Grumbling I force myself back onto my feet. I had hoped my cybernetics would make me immune like Seven but I don't have the biology regulating implants she do. Another thing to my list.
I make my way to the Doctor to have my burns checked, same as the rest of the crew. Seven is going to need to spend at least a month. Alone.
A couple of days later I eye my stasischamber with a bit of distaste. The Doctor walk up and give me a smile "Well, Mr Hiver. Jump in."
Giving him a unhappy look I do so "If I wake up 300 years into the future 'again', I'm taking it out of your holographic hide Doc."
He simply smile down at me and close it up "I'll make sure to set a alarm clock."
As the Lid slide up I can only hope Seven is at least as prepared for this as she was in OT. Hopefully our last minute work on trying to adapt her borg shields to block the radiation will help against the hallucinations...but neither of us trust it which is why I'm not out there with her.
She can survive without it...I cant.
"I hate these things..." I grumble before I fall asleep.
AN// Demon didn't happen. A starship running out of deuterium? That's like running out of water...
Also, I'm trying to avoid complete gamebreakers just because they don't result in a very interesting story.
