Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

Sam never thought that apart from the nonchalant attitude of teachers. The school had a lot of free time he could exploit, in doing nothing.

Most of the teachers, if not all behaved in the same manner as the first female teacher he came across. When they arrived at his class they always had a pained sort of expression on their face as if they resented class 4.

Sam could sympathize with the teachers. If he were in their shoes he wouldn't bother coming to the class at all. Most of the students were unserious with their academics, treating their teachers like clown and badmouthing anyone they think is an eyesore.

This led to the lacklustre characteristics of the teachers towards his class. To the teachers, class 4 was like flogging a dead horse.

It was already noon and the bell had rung for their break. Five periods of class had passed that morning before break. Periods of learning nothing, since the teachers would leave when his class started misbehaving while the other two didn't bother to come.

Sam opted to use his break period for something useful. He got out of class as soon as he heard the bell for a break. Students rushed out barely after the bell had rung twice and stormed the field. A boy from class 2 was seen on the field holding a ball followed by a mob of students barefooted as they chased after the boy with the ball.

Not wanting to waste more time, he began to search for the staff room. He didn't know how long the break would take. He had to make use of the time available to him. Or wait, should he just go after break period is over? No this was the best time possible. He was sure she could give him insight about soul energy manipulation.

"Hey Melon!" Sam thought he heard someone calling but he shrugged off the thought and kept walking forward.

"Excuse me, melon!" The voice was getting closer followed by hurried footsteps from behind.

A slight touch at his shoulder made him stop. Coming into his view was a boy from his class. Sam noticed the oranged haired kid who was seated at the far end of the class.

" Wow, man you walk so fast" The orange haired boy said pretending to gasp for breath. "Melon, right? the new kid"

Sam was displeased at his words but he quickly waved it aside. "It's Delon" He almost snapped at the boy.

"Whatever" The teenage boy said waving his hand in front of Sam. "All the same anyway. Um where are you heading"

Sam told him he was going to the staff room without revealing his motive. The thought of being able to manipulate soul energy without the aid of a contracted beast made him a bit excited.

"I see.Got a date with Miss Sanders heh?" He Said blinking his eyes at Sam and flashing him a smile jovially.

Sam continued walking. He wasn't surprised he guessed where he intended to go. Miss Sanders as the boy had mentioned, said to meet him at class period and he was present at that time.

"Not a date, an appointment" Sam said he was beginning to warm up to the guy.

"Well you are in luck , because Fred here would gladly be your escort" The crook smile he gave Sam made him think Fred has ulterior motive.

" Escort? Why would I need one?"Sam said itching to get rid of Fred. He wanted to be left alone and process his thoughts.

"You sure? Because you are heading the wrong way. She doesn't stay in the teachers staff room or class. Maybe I'll just head back minding my business" Fred turned to go feigning disappointment.

Sam sighed. Fred has been kondo high long enough to know every nook and cranny. But he just got here today. To top it all, he was actually heading for the teachers staff room and that wouldn't be necessary, because 'Miss Sanders' as Fred had called her, wouldn't be there.

"Wait!" Sam called hesitantly. "Where can I find her please?"

"Ooh, you want me to help you?" Fred had a mischievous smile on his face. "I definitely will, but there is a catch" Fred added rubbing his palms together.

'Oh great what now?' Sam groaned in his mind as he gave Fred a questionable look.

"Don't worry, I won't make you do something shitty for me. It's just a favor I want from you." The smile on Fred's face was now replaced with a sincere look.

"And which is?..." Sam inquired. He wanted to know what he was putting himself into.

"I'll tell you on the way. The break period is almost over."

Fred took him in the opposite direction of where he was coming from. They passed by several classes which were class one, two and three respectivelly. Fred had been a chatterbox on the way, explaining every details of the school both relevant or not.

Instead of growing tired of Fred's chattery, Sam was actually enjoying it. He found it to be informative and it cleared most of the questions that were building up inside of him when he stepped into the school.

From what Fred told Sam, he realized that kondo high was not financially run by the government, leading to the poor facilities in the school.

Moreover, kondo high was braided by everyone as a school for uncon. Despite being an all boys school, there were only four classes. Class one ,two and three were full of kids who were not up to the age of sixteen. Children, not up to the age of sixteen were not eligible for awakening.

Forcibly awakening of children under the age of sixteen could damage their mind. It is believed that the mind has fully developed at sixteen thereby the awakened procedure for sixteen years old.

Class four was the final class in kondo high school. This was new to Sam as most schools had classes up to six, his old school had up to class 6 his seniors.

From Fred, Sam learnt that his class which was class four that practically all of them were uncon. His classmates as well had equally failed to awaken like him.

Knowing this made Sam a bit lenient to the school. He had pushed his old school to the back of his mind.

"We are here" Fred announced, placing his hands on his waist like he had made a discovery.

Sam looked at the building in front of him, it was the school library. The building was half the size of his classroom. He doubted the credibility of the building, thinking Fred had something up his sleeves. But the word 'library' written boldly on it suggested otherwise, clearing his doubt.

With that he entered inside
