Heading towards the girl's direction, Sam thought of what he would say to her, he didn't know any pickup lines to hook up a lady. He turned his gaze back to fred who looked at him expectantly.
"You can do this melon!" Sam could hear Fred say as he crossed the street.
The girl in question was standing in front of her school gate, she appeared to be waiting for someone. Maybe her driver or friend, but that wasn't the main issue here. Sam wondered what to say to her to get her phone number.
Most people especially gorgeous girls prefer not to interact with strangers mostly.
Surrounded by a group of girls who were chatting and giggling, the girl in question seemed to be unaware that Sam was approaching her.
'This is a one time thing.' Sam said repeatedly in his head, assuring himself that this would be the last time he would ever try this.
"Ummm, Excuse me" The girl turned to the voice that addressed her followed by the few girls that were beside her.
"Can I have your time." Sam said businesslike keeping a calm look on his face as he pointed to her.
"Me?" Asked the girl. "uhh okay" She agreed which surprised Sam, he thought it would take a lot more than that.
Her friends giggled as they gave her a slight push forward before distancing themselves from the both of them.
'Well that came out good' Sam thought when he found things going smoothly. He had passed through the first step, which was grabbing her attention. Now was time for the next step.
What will he say to her? He had no idea of what to tell her, he couldn't just outright ask for her contact details.
"Sorry for bothering you" Sam began after a brief thought. " Can I have the honor of knowing your name?"
"Ember" She said beaming at him. "Ember Craveheart" She replied as she struggled to keep eye contact with Sam.
Craveheart. Sam thought he had heard that name before but he couldn't figure out where.
"Ember. What a lovely name. Do you come here most times?"
Ember bent her head shyly as her cheeks were red. "I...School here"
'Crap!' Sam almost slapped his forehead head of course she comes here, this was her school for crying out loud. He bit his lips mentally as he was running out of words to say, but he remained a calm expression on the surface.
"Oh my bad, silly me just that your beauty makes you stand out that I didn't think you were a student." That came out nice, way to go Sam.
The reddened cheeks on Ember's face gave Sam the thought that he was on the right track.
"Thanks" Ember muttered barely audible but Sam ears had picked on it. He stretched out his hand, the other inside his pocket.
"My name's Sam, nice to meet you." He said with his hand outright for a handshake which he almost regretted.
Ember stared at the hand for a moment before shaking his hand. She felt the smooth outline of palm that gave her comfort. She had read that a male's body was naturally stronger, instead of the firm grip she had expected like that of her father's , she was meant with the softness of that was similar to a baby's bosom.
Shaking her hand, Sam felt it was time to put the nail on the coffin.
"I am quite in a hurry can I have your contact details, I would love to have this chat with you another time." This was it , he had gone for the head. He was not going to be around the bush as he didn't have any time left. He needed to be quick.
Ember retracted her hand.
At first Sam thought that he had rushed things too quickly. His calm face almost degenerated into disappointment, but he still kept his cool.
Ember reached for her bag to bring out a card which she handed out to Sam. "Here, who can call me... I mean contact me later."
Without wasting time, Sam took the card and Ember turned her back and hurried away to her friends. She waved at him when she looked back to meet his eyes.
That was easy. A grin appeared on his face. 'The job is done, nice one Sam' He gave himself a mental pat on the head.
He examined the card on his hand and he felt a sense of deja vu. His mind quickly flashed back at the taxi can. The young lady he met there who had given him a business card. Why was it always with cards?
Stuffing the card in his pocket he quickly crossed the street and walked to Fred.
"You Little devil" Fred said as Sam walked to him and waved the card in front of him. "I never doubted you, knowing you had it you." He stretched out to grab the card but Sam was a tep ahead of him.
Sam withheld the card placing it back in his pocket, he wasn't going to release the card that early. He wanted to make sure Fred held to the other side of his bargain.
Fred humphed and pouted his lips like a child. "What now ?"
"Your end of the agreement."
Fred rubbed his eyes and sighed, he was so eager about the whole thing and didn't think Sam would pull it off. For Christ sake he even made her blush and smile, different from the rumors he heard.
"Okay, how about tomorrow" He said flashing Sam a smile only to be met by the cold gaze from Sam. At that moment he knew Sam wasn't joking with him.
"Tomorrow it is then" Sam said after a while, stuffing the card back into his pocket. Adjusting his backpack he turned to go. He didn't walk long enough before he heard Fred's voice call him from behind.
"Melon wait up." Sam stopped walking and turned, ignoring the fact that Fred called him melon. " You are a hard nut to crack, are you? Let's go back to school, I think I have something that might help." Fred suggested.
Sam looked at Fred and nodded in agreement. "Sounds fair eno....." Before he could finish his words, he felt a sharp pain as before this time a lot worse. His breath was seized as if choking him. His senses became dull and soon he found himself in his knees holding his neck.
"Sam! Sam! Hey are you okay? " Sam could hear Fred ask as his voice filled with horror. Soon his senses were going back to normal. He could feel Fred's firm hold on his shoulders.
"What was that man?" Fred was terrified, this was the second time today since he met Sam. He wondered what would have happened if Sam had died. Would it be linked to him that he played a role in Sam's death? And the worst of all he just met the guy today.
Sam slowly stood up adjusting his breathing, he took in deep breaths before he relaxed his breathing eventually. He needed to do something fas, or else it could spell trouble for him.
