"These are the accounts of the Ashers," Grandfather said calmly, as though he were explaining the weather. "This is one of the things that has made our family one of the most powerful in the country."
I stared at the screen, horrified. The accounts revealed illegal activities, bribes to politicians, funds funneled through shady enterprises, and connections to criminal operations.
"This… this is all illegal," I said, my voice shaking.
Grandfather didn't flinch. "It is. And it's also why no one dares challenge the Ashers."
My stomach twisted. "But how did my father get this code? Why would he have it?"
