Silas ended up with the lowest number when the dice were rolled again. He sat upright, cleared his throat, and began his tale. His tone turned serious.
"Before sands and mountains covered Dusthaven, people said it was a land of greenery and wealth. One great king ruled these vast lands with fairness in actions and kindness in heart. His kin spread across the land like a boundless sea. No one expected that the great young king would fall in love with a commoner," Silas said in a steady tone, his voice neutral like his expression, yet the crew listened with interest.
"The king married her in a grand wedding, bringing her to the castle where greedy magpies and cunning crows lurked. Though the good king was determined to protect his woman from the predators, he failed in the end. The fragile canary died in the good king's arms."
As the tale reached his ears, Eros's eyes got aloof and his face went rigid.
