Chapter 35 - porridge

The sweet scent of food filled the air, attracting all attention. Grant licked his lower lip hungrily and gulped down.

Lily noticed his reaction and chuckled. "It's ready already. Do you want some?" she inquired.

Grant nodded, immediately feeling hungry.

Lily smiled and grabbed a small dining bowl. She opened the pot and skillfully poured porridge into the bowl. She handed it over to Grant and was just about to warn him about the temperature, but before she could utter a word, Grant had already gulped it all down in one go, rendering Lily speechless.

It was as if the porridge wasn't hot at all, as Grant continued licking his lips adorably.

"Angel, what's this magical food? It has a strange taste, but it's so sweet! I want more."

Lily smiled and took the bowl from him. "This is called porridge, okay? In the future, you'll be eating more sweet foods," she promised, handing him another bowl of porridge.

"Eat slowly; it's hot." This time she warned early, and Grant obediently ate as he was instructed.

"Hey, Lily, I've been smelling this 'poisonous food' of yours for a while now. Won't you toast some for me? It won't be good if I just smell it and don't get a taste," a gruff voice echoed.

Lily smiled. "Really? You call it 'poisonous food' now? Aren't you afraid you might die immediately after having a taste?" she smirked wickedly.

"In this world, nothing can kill me. Besides, that mate of yours just ate it, and nothing happened to him. Nothing will happen to me either; I won't die," she assured her.

"You're just too confident."

"Are you giving me some or not? It's not like I'm begging for it, humph."

"It's not like I'm begging you to eat it before. I'm not giving you any, so die if you want to," she retorted.

"You! I'm your star guardian!"

"Tsk, I was doing just fine before you arrived."

"You! Very well then, keep your food; I don't want it."

Lily chuckled and calmly stored everything back inside the ring. Everything except the food; she filled her own plate and enjoyed her meal at a leisurely pace.

After several bowls of porridge, Grant finally stopped eating, thanks to Lily's intervention.

It was getting dark already. Looking outside at the snow, Lily couldn't help but keep remembering Angus and the others.

"They must be very worried," she murmured.

"You want to go back?" Grant questioned, hugging Lily from behind.

"Mm," Lily replied. "I miss them," she added.

"Miss? What's that?" Grant was confused.

"It means it has been a long time since I saw them. I would like to reunite with them," she explained calmly.

"Since that's what you want, I will take you to them when it's bright. I want to spend this night alone with you," Grant said, sniffing Lily's scent.

Lily smiled. "Let's go to sleep," she suggested.

"My bed is cold; you will sleep on me, just like yesterday."

Lily's face flushed. "Err, never mind; I have a bed," she replied, and suddenly a large king-sized bed appeared.

"What's this? This bed is too big! It's strange as well!" Grant exclaimed, unable to believe a bed could be that large.

"Don't be too shocked; I'm going to sleep," Lily said and climbed onto the bed, inwardly admiring its luxury.

Grant's mouth slowly opened, but he quickly composed himself. "Then I will sleep with you," he declared, climbing onto the bed as well.

Just as he settled in, the sound of something breaking filled the air.

"What's that?" Lily asked, but before she could get an answer, the entire bed suddenly collapsed. Both Lily and Grant tumbled to the floor.

"Grant!!!!!!!!" Lily exclaimed. "When you know that you have unimaginable weight, why did you come here? Do you know how much this bed cost?" She was visibly enraged.

Grant scratched the back of his head in embarrassment. "I… I didn't know the bed was too weak. I'm sorry, Angel; don't be angry," he pleaded, his pitiful expression returning.

"You… you… seriously!" Lily didn't even know how to scold him and could only try to calm her anger. "Do me a favor and sleep on your own bed," she finally suggested.

"Angel, let's sleep together. I will cover you with my wings, and you won't catch cold," Grant insisted.

Lily cast him a glance.

"Alright, I will go, but don't catch cold, okay?" he remarked reluctantly as he made his way to the ice bed.

"I need another bed," Lily thought.

"Sorry, it's not easy to transfer modern things here. Do you know that this bed is brand new? You broke it just like that. I'm afraid you will have to sleep like that. If you can't sleep on the floor, then manage the broken bed. As for transferring things to you again, I'm afraid you have reached today's limit already," Star's mocking voice replied.

Lily suddenly wished to crush someone. "You are taking revenge, aren't you?" she nearly exploded with anger.

"Am I? But I don't think I am," Star's innocent voice replied.

"Fine, go to hell then!" Lily cursed and fell asleep on the broken bed.

...

Everything was deadly silent, and Lily was already in deep slumber. Because the bed was broken and uncomfortable, she kept adjusting her position repeatedly.

Grant wasn't asleep yet, so he moved to her side. After confirming that she was deeply asleep, he carried her and took her to the snow bed. He lay down on it and positioned her on himself, then wrapped his wings around her, using them as a blanket.

Lily finally had a relaxed night.

...

Star successfully exited Lily's ring and stretched her little body. "Damn this crazy woman! Did she think that I wouldn't be able to serve myself if she didn't serve me?" she murmured, flying toward the big porridge pot. "If not for hunger, who would want to eat your poisonous food? Hump!" she hissed and intended to open the pot cover, but to her surprise, it was heavy.

"Oh my Star fairy! How can a pot cover be so heavy?" Star lamented, using all her energy to open it. "Damn! I will make you suffer for making me suffer before I fill my stomach, wuuuu!" Star cried after successfully opening the cover.

She immediately grabbed a bowl as well as a spoon, filled the bowl, and sat on the ground cross-legged, eating with ease. "To not lie, she has some skills. Just little skills!" she complimented, filling the bowl again after finishing the first one.

Finishing one bowl and filling it again continued to repeat itself until she had emptied the entire porridge. She burped and took a deep breath. "Wait, I have finished all the food! This crazy girl will definitely make trouble for me," she thought, envisioning Lily's anger. "What to do, what to do?" She began pacing back and forth, her tiny wings fluttering in agitation.
