Kaire's eyes mirrored Akira's confusion. "Who are you?" she echoed, her voice laced with mystery.
Their hands still clasped, Akira felt an inexplicable energy coursing through her veins. "What's happening to me?" she whispered, her eyes wide with wonder.
Kaire's grip tightened. "I don't know, but I think you're absorbing my life force energy."
Suddenly, Kaire released Akira's hand, his movement abrupt. Akira's eyes widened in shock.
"What's life force energy? Why is it transferring to me?" she asked, trembling.
Kaire turned silently, gazing toward the sky. "Answer me, Kaire!" Akira urged.
"I'm a Dragon Carer's child, Akira," Kaire whispered.
"A Dragon Carer child?" Akira repeated. "What does that mean?"
"My family protects and cares for dragons, blessed by their spirit," Kaire said, serious.
"Dragons? They're real?" Akira asked.
Kaire nodded. "Or maybe they're gone, but my family cares for their legacy."
"Why is it reacting to me?" Akira's voice trembled.
Kaire's intense gaze locked onto hers. "I don't know. I don't know much about these things."
The school bell rang, breaking the spell. Students flooded the terrace.
"We'll talk later," Kaire whispered "Meet me at the oldest Flamboyant tree in the park after school."
He vanished into the crowd.
Akira stood there, reeling. Dragons? Dragon Carers?
At the classroom for bags:
Yui: Where were you, Akira? I'm selected for the cat show!
Akira: Congratulations! I was on the school terrace for some fresh air.
Yui: "Okay, see you tomorrow! My parents are waiting, bye Akira!"
Akira: "Bye Yui! I'm also leaving. It's been a long day anyway, school's over."
Yui hurried off, waving goodbye.
Akira watched her friend disappear into the crowd before turning toward the park. Her mind still reeled from Kaire's revelation...
