Chapter 12 - The Glowing Eyes

As she walked, the trees seemed to grow taller, casting longer shadows. The park's tranquility calmed her racing thoughts.

Upon reaching the oldest Flamboyant tree, Kaire stood waiting, his eyes fixed on hers.

Akira nodded, her heart racing. "Explain everything."

Kaire took a deep breath. "Dragon Carers protect and care for dragons. We've been doing it for centuries."

"But dragons are mythical," Akira protested.

Kaire's expression turned serious. "They're real, Akira. Or at least, they were. I'm not sure if they still exist."

Akira's eyes widened. "What happened to them?"

Kaire's gaze drifted toward the sky. "I don't know. My family's knowledge was passed down through generations, but some secrets were lost."

"And the life force energy?" Akira asked.

"Life force energy," Kaire explained, "is the vitality that sustains life, the essence that allows us to exist. It heals, protects, and connects us to the dragons, and every living being has its unique life force energy"

Akira's thoughts swirled. "And why did it transfer to me?"

Kaire's eyes locked onto hers. "That's what I also want to know."

Kaire's stance straightened. "As the highest-ranking Carer in the Carer clans, a dragon carer," Kaire said, "why do you possess such power, and how can you absorb my life force energy?".

Akira's curiosity was piqued. "I also want to know why my eyes are glowing," she said, her voice filled with wonder. "And now I have more questions. But first, tell me, what's the Carer's clan?"

Kaire's eyes locked onto Akira's, her expression serious. "It's not a clan, but a race. Carers protect animals and possess a unique gift to communicate with spirits and animals. Only a select few have this ability, passed down from the bloodline or spiritual connection."

Akira's eyes widened. "That's just like what's written in the book, 'Ancient Animals Carer.' You know about that book?"

Kaire nodded,"Yes, I do. It's an old book that's been lost for many years. My dad said some books were lost with the Carers, while others were distributed among them or stolen by humans." Her gaze intensified. "I think you're also a Carer. But whose Carer are you, Akira?and how you know about that book?"

Akira's face scrunched in confusion. "I also want to know these mysteries about my life, Kaire. By the way, why don't you talk to anyone at school?"

Kaire's shoulders shrugged, her voice barely above a whisper. "I just don't talk much. I just want to be alone. I just want a normal life."

Akira's face lit up with a warm smile. "I also want a normal life like everyone kaire." She stood up, her eyes sparkling. "Okay, I'm going. See you tomorrow at school, Kaire."

As Akira walked away, waving her hand in goodbye, Kaire's heart skipped a beat. Their eyes met, glowing softly. Kaire whispered to himself, "How silly."

The air seemed to vibrate with an otherworldly connection, leaving Kaire wondering if their chance encounter was more than just coincidence.
