Chapter 4 - Nice To Meet You

As they arrive at the laboratory, the researchers began to turn the machine on and make preparations. The two men stood next to each other during this and the silence almost made Mu Wei think he was deaf.

After a few moments of silence, Mu Wei looked at Chan-Yeol and casually asked, "If the F-ranks were strong enough to handle the training and showed potential, do you guys put them in higher ranks?"

Chan-Yeol paused for a moment and looked at Mu Wei as if he were asking the most useless question. He swallowed up a laugh and said, "Well Mr. Mu Wei, it won't be as easy as it looks. You haven't even tried our trainings yet so assuming that we won't give you a hard training because you guys are F-ranks is pretty ignorant. Even if that were the case, it would be up to the system and not us. We're just giving nurturing your potential in exchange for your loyalty to the guild. You're truly quite amusing."

The white-haired man didn't seem to be bothered by his remark at the end and simply shrugged his shoulders and continued asking questions, "So be it. Does your guild master visit the training grounds often? Would it be possible for me to meet him?"

Chan-Yeol looked at him strangely as if he were a fool and didn't say anything. "...."

For a moment, Mu Wei felt like he was a kindergartener that just asked his teacher the most basic question. 'Okay maybe the question was a little bit too straightforward, but do you really need to make that face? At least give me a laugh or one of your weird smiles.'

They were both still standing there like earlier. Except this time there was awkwardness tangled with the silence. One looked at the other with amusement tinged with mockery while the other looked at him with no expression. Well, he actually just had a good poker face, he was dying of embarrassment inside.

Time continued despite this; people were still walking past them busy with what they need to. Occasionally, some would glance at them but didn't pay too much attention. To others, it just seemed like they were playing a very weird staring contest.

Their weird staring contest continued for a few more minutes until there was a loud bang that sounded throughout the laboratory.

Everyone turned to look at the main source of the noise. A man with long black hair and eyes that shone as bright as the sun stood at the entrance of the guild. He was dressed neatly with a white-collar shirt, black trousers and a black blazer draped over his shoulder.

It was a man they couldn't be more familiar with. Almost everyone knows what the infamous number 1 hunter looked like. Moreover, it was also their guild master. It was Lu Beiyi! But what was he doing here? At this time? He looked like he just got out of a meeting and went straight to the laboratory.

Time seemed to stop for a moment, and everyone widened their eyes. Lu Beiyi's gaze swept across everyone and finally paused on Mu Wei. He had an intimidating aura that any ordinary person would fall weak on their knees.

He walked leisurely towards the direction of the two with an eerie smile snapping the two out of their staring contest. As the man got closer and closer with that weird smile, Mu Wei had a feeling that this weirdo would be the cause of his headaches in the future.

"Guild master, what brings you here today in the laboratory?" Chan-Yeol looked surprised about his master's sudden visit and bowed politely. It seemed like his mocking aura from earlier disappeared and was replaced with a more serious aura.

Mu Wei looked at him bowing with an expressionless face and thought funnily. 'Wow. This dude can actually be polite for once without mocking someone. My mind is blown.' Just thinking about this almost made Mu Wei break his impenetrable poker face.

PS. It wasn't really impenetrable, he just had superb acting skills of looking like someone that will kill you if you stare at him.

Putting these thoughts aside, Mu Wei glanced at the man in front of them and took his time to observe the details. In closer observation, this man would be more fitting to be a model for vogue or something rather than a guild master.

'Although I already knew he was someone that many consider handsome, he really does have the face almost everyone would first imagine as handsome. Tall nose, a great figure, and a charismatic aura. if he wasn't smiling so eerily right now.'

Lu Beiyi gave a casual glance at Chan-Yeol and ignored his question. Instead, he locked eyes with the white-haired man near him and strode to Mu Wei's direction.

'Oh gosh. I'm starting to regret looking for their guild master. My gut is telling me this dude is way weirder than the other weird blondie bowing over there.' He glanced at Chan-Yeol who was still bowing his head and remained still.

At this moment, Mu Wei stood there unfazed by his presence. Well, that's what it looked like to outsiders. He was actually internally screaming and not in a good way. While he was debating whether or not he should just book it and run out the door, this thought was quickly stopped. A tall figure stood in front of him and looked at him with an ominous feel and blocked Mu Wei's sight of the precious exit door.

'Fuck me and my life. Is it even worth it to ask the guild master for help at this point if he's this weird?'  Why did I have to be the one that's chosen for this.... I don't even want to do this.

Lu Beiyi stared at him for a few minutes and there was an intimidating silence between them. When Mu Wei started to become bothered by this awkwardness, he opened his mouth and tried to say something, but the man cut him off.

The man hummed for a moment and inspected him from top to bottom before giving a grin, "I heard from a little birdie or two that there was an interesting F-rank among the others. Although you're already interesting due to your face, is there more than meets the eye? I'm curious on why you're so eager to have an audience with me."

'Are guild master's usually this involved in rumors or is he just different from the rest? Wait no, Chan-Yeol probably gave my information to him. However, it shouldn't say anything too suspicious to the point where he had to came in person. What's with this guy's deal?' Mu Wei grimaced at the thought of the possibility that this person found out about his secret. But it was truly almost impossible to find out and believe if he didn't admit it himself. 'Okay, calm down. It couldn't have been because of that. There's a different reason to this.'

Chan-Yeol finally stood up and for a moment, Mu Wei saw him glance at their direction with a look of pity in his eyes before walking away. 'Okay... Seriously, what was that? Everyone here's so weird.'

Mu Wei rolled his eyes internally before replying to Lu Beiyi, "Wow, you're very fast to rumors guild master. I'm very honored to be personally meeting you." He paused for a moment and thought to himself. 'I can't say this in a group of people, and I can't bring myself to trust this man either. Although he's the best option I have a really strong gut feeling that it would be disastrous if I were to tell him.'

The man in front of him waited patiently for him to finish and even crossed his arms with a look of amusement in his eyes. Mu Wei prepared himself internally for this and continued in a louder voice that almost everyone could hear. "There isn't a particularly important reason on why I want to meet you. It's just that I- well..." 'Well shit. There goes my pride and ego.'

Lu Beiyi raised one of his eyebrows and motioned for him to continue. Mu Wei took a deep breath and said, "It's because I'm in love with you! I- I admire your very very very capable guild and well your haha very attractive face! Yes, that's right, I fell deeply in love with you after stumbling upon you in social media. Haha unfortunately there is nothing more than meets the eye except for my undying love for you! and your... guild"

'Can someone just bury me already. I don't think I'll live this memory down for as long as I'm alive.'
