Mu Wei widened his eyes at this new information given to him. He hadn't known that Lu Beiyi possessed this kind of ability.
'Is that why he was so feared? Maybe it's because Mu Wei didn't finish the novel that he didn't know this crucial information.'
"I have never heard of such a thing." Mu Wei muttered, too embarrassed to look at Chan-Yeol in the eye. He felt even more foolish as he proceeded to say very cliche compliments about the guild master's eye.
The latter stared at him for a few moments before turning around. "Well, I can't be one to tell you this. After all, you are a person that deeply admires the guild master."
Mu Wei could've sworn his hairs were being lifted. He shivered at the thought of confessing his love to the infamous guild master. 'Deeply admires my ass! I practically just dug my own grave.'
In all honesty, he can't really say much about this considering that his eyes were much stranger. It's not often you'd see someone walking around with bright white hair and red eyes. Even before he was transmigrated, many people would often look at him strangely before he became an actor.
"In any case, let's forget about that for now and focus on the machine. If you be so kind, kindly step forward and follow our instructions for the most optimal results." Chan-Yeol stuck his hand out and guided Mu Wei to the machine.
He stood in the machine and a few researchers came over and buckled the belts. One was a belt below his knees and the other was just above his hips. It seemed more like he was being strapped to prepare for being tortured if you ask me.
Mu Wei observed the machine for a few more seconds and looked towards the researcher's direction. They were all in deep focus and handled everything meticulously. It seems that the Beiyin guild despite the infamous guild master deserved their reputation of being one of the best guilds in Korea.
Not long after, the machine seemed to be ready to go and the researchers began to look less tensed up as before. Chan-Yeol seemed to talk with them for a few more minutes before finally nodding his head.
He turned and looked at Mu Wei and spoke with that same cunning voice he had as earlier. It seemed like he was back to his usual self after that shock. "Well, I hope you'll enjoy the process. Please, make yourself comfortable. This won't take as long as you think."
Mu Wei was having shivers in his back just looking at that sly fox's smile.
'Enjoy my ass.' He thought while rolling his eyes internally at him. As the machine began to fire up, Mu Wei could feel his muscles contract tighter by the second. It felt like the machine was hugging him tightly to the point where he couldn't even breath normally as the clock ticks every second.
'So, this is why people often passed out during this process. For an ordinary F-rank it was an excruciating pain that seemed to last for an eternity.'
Despite having low stamina and even pain tolerance in his past life, miraculously despite his damn regression ability, he wasn't lying when he said that he was powerful. All his abilities were practically S-rank levels. It's just that, for some reason, it can't be measured properly in the scaling system and comes out as an F-rank.
Mu Wei figured eventually that this was the doing of the system. It seemed like the only plausible explanation as to why his abilities seemed to be hidden from the public. This is why he was confident that 'those' people wouldn't allow even the greatest guilds to find out his ability. No matter how much they investigate, it's practically near impossible unless there was a system error.
Of course, despite having excellent pain tolerance and stamina, Mu Wei still had mental fatigue.
After what felt like an eternity in that damn machine, Mu Wei could finally feel his muscles relax and expand. It seems like the process was done. He glanced at the clock near the wall and was pretty surprised.
'Only 5 minutes had passed yet it felt like an eternity. Is this seriously not considered mental abuse or something?'
This world's geography did not change in any sort of way but the people's way of thinking often surprised him. It seemed like the unordinary here was ordinary for them. I mean, do you often see people strapping themselves into a strange machine to practically endure torture for 5 minutes in the real world?
The researchers approached him once more and undid all the belts around him. As the feeling of being tied up left, Mu Wei stood up straightly and wiggled his hands for a few seconds. After being held so tightly for a few minutes, they had become stiff.
Chan-Yeol approached him with a glint in his eyes and a smile, the same damn smile again. Mu Wei felt like Chan-Yeol was more like the guild master during these moments. Or is he just too uptight about it right now?
The blondie clapped slowly and expressed his very very sincere congratulatory, "Congratulations! I believe you were one of the first F-ranks that didn't pass out during this."
Mu Wei nodded and replied, "Thank you, it's an honor."
Chan-Yeol nodded back and continued to give sarcastic praises at Mu Wei before sending him off with a final note, "As for your results, I believe they shall be out after 2-3 days once everyone's finished with their testing."
Their conversation finally ended after all the sarcastic praises and remarks thrown at each other. As Mu Wei returned to the waiting room, the F-ranks looked at him with curiosity. They had originally wanted to ask him how it went but it seemed like the white-haired man was in a trance. How to put it... It seemed like what a person would look like when they become immersed in what their reading. It feels like they're unapproachable and out of touch.
At this moment, Mu Wei was thinking of something that sent cold shivers down his back.
'Why were the guild master and Chan-Yeol so weirdly similar sometimes?'
Some would say he's being a little overcautious about this, but some would say it's the perfect level of cautiousness. Well, perhaps this was normal when a subordinate often imitates their master at times.
Yeah, probably.
