Reminiscing about that night made Mu Wei's hair stand up. It felt weird to remember the clear and explicit pain of the knife stabbed into his body.
Mu Wei decided not to think about it too much and focused on the man standing in front of him. After the embarrassing confession he had just given, the man's cunning smile faltered for a brief moment and seemed to be surprised at this unexpected act.
Heck, even Chan-Yeol was surprised and didn't expect it at all. The intimidating atmosphere paused for a moment and time seemed to stop for a second. Mu Wei was contemplating whether to say more and just stand there when Lu Beiyi suddenly gave a small laugh.
"I certainly didn't expect to receive such a heartfelt confession from you. Haha, that's really amusing. Please, do tell me more on why you fell for me?" He didn't really seem offended like Mu Wei expected. Instead, he just laughed and asked him to continue his confession. It seemed like he wasn't expecting someone to confess to him.
"Well, I really like..." Think Mu Wei! Think! Where'd all my brain power go??'
He racked his brains on what to say and suddenly had an idea. "I really like your eyes. They remind me of the sun and the stars on the night sky. They shine brightly."
At this point, Mu Wei wanted to facepalm himself. He tried to sound as convincing as possible, yet it sounded more like he was a weirdo that looked at other people's eyes.
Lu Beiyi just grinned at this and gave a hum of approval. "A lot of people do mention my eyes. Except it would be more of the opposite on what you said."
'Well, no shit sherlock. Your eyes can practically be seen across the hallway.'
Mu Wei stood there quietly and thought to himself. 'Now that I think about it, in the novel he wasn't mentioned a lot of times. Or maybe it's just because I haven't finished all the chapters.'
Despite being one of the strongest S-ranks there is, this man was only mentioned briefly throughout the novel. Right, when Mu Wei kept regressing back in time, he had actually never bothered to come to the Beiyin guild.
He searched for the main character instead but could never find them. He followed all the events that had happened in the novel but every time he would arrive it was already finished. Suspicious right? It seemed like the system or whoever transmigrated him here didn't want him to find the main character.
On his fifth regression which is this one, he decided to go to Beiyin guild in search for a formidable ally that could help him with this task. Mu Wei had heard of Lu Beiyi already, but he didn't pay no mind to it on his past regressions.
Still, Mu Wei still holds some doubts in his mind about the main character and the fact that there was a side character that was practically identical to him. The only difference between them would be his long hair.
When he first awakened in this world, he was laying down in a hospital room. There was a small yet repeating beeping sound ringing in his ear. As Mu Wei rose up and sat, he observed his surroundings. He was confused and scared. It seemed like it was all just a dream to him, but Mu Wei knows that it wasn't just a dream. Suddenly, there was a system that popped up in front of him, but we'll talk about that later.
Mu Wei and Lu Beiyi stared at each other quietly for a few seconds when the black-haired man turned around to leave. "It seems I've earned a very devoted admirer in my guild. I'll make sure not to disappoint you for courtesy of your feelings. Let's meet again next time, Mu Wei. I hope you can share more thoughts you have for me."
He waved his hands goodbye to him and seemed to be in a good mood. As the door closed, the researchers looked at him strangely and with wonder. Each moment there felt like Mu Wei grew closer and closer to death with all the silence around him.
'Okay, come on. Was it really that bad of a confession? It's way better than me pissing myself!'
Even Mu Wei felt a bit offended at their gazes. What's so weird about confessing to someone? Despite not being in love with that person he still gave a heartfelt confession. He sighed with annoyance and tried to look for Chan-Yeol.
When he approached Chan-Yeol, the blonde man looked at him very strangely, much stranger than the others. By this point, Mu Wei's patience was already at the tip of the edge, and he couldn't handle their gazes.
"What's up with everyone's gazes? I don't think I've said anything wrong. I merely just confessed." Mu Wei's brows furrowed with annoyance as he asked Chan-Yeol about this.
Chan-Yeol cleared his throat and replied, "There's nothing wrong with what you said the first half but your second half... Do you really not know what his eyes mean?"
Mu Wei raised his brow and showed a look of confusion. 'Okay, sue me, I never bothered to investigate him during my regressions. But is it that important? Maybe it's just his genes that make it bright.'
"No, I don't know what you mean by his eyes. I thought that they were quite captivating actually." It was the truth, despite being intimidating and eerie his eyes were really pretty. It reminded Mu Wei of the stars in the night sky during his vacation in Hawaii.
Chan-Yeol sighed and answered, "I can't believe you don't know something as important as this. To put it bluntly, it's like staring at a hypnosis clock. That's why many people avoid eye contact with him most of the time. Not only did you confess to him, but you also complimented his eyes which are practically a nightmare for others. Are you crazy?"
'Oh. Well, he didn't know that. That's probably why the guild master was so stunned and laughing. Now he looks even more of a fool.'
