Chapter 2 - Glimpse of the past

A week has passed since Rebecca moved out of the Aldine mansion; it took her a week to digest everything that happened.

A week of nonstop drinking and inhaling the strong smell of alcohol that, up until now, was flowing in her veins. As soon as she stormed out of the Aldine's mansion, she shoveled every vodka, whiskey, and beer into her mouth in every single bar in town; she's wasted.

Well, that is only natural for Rebecca Ali—a rebellious, eccentric, and strong-headed daughter of the Ali family, and it's been a while since this side of her showed up.

Yup, Rebecca is the worst daughter of the Ali's—well, is what her so-called family is claiming—but her bad reputation washed away years ago when her heart fell to Winston.

She made sure that she was suitable for him and his family, so, in return, she changed her bad habits. From the way she speaks and behaves, she became the most wanted daughter-in-law that even Amalia's—Winston's mother—friends liked so much, and then one day, luck—is what she called before—finally landed on her.

A marriage proposal from the Aldine family—an arranged marriage for their second son.

Without any deep thoughts at all, she begged her father to become Winston's bride; she even bribed her sisters; of course, begging is not enough for his father; a couple necklaces and a few hundred dollars won't satisfy her materialistic sisters either, so, in the end, she gave up her inheritance and requested her father to transfer everything to her sisters. On the other hand, they made tons of money because of her.

The Aldines transferred a whole building and a few bonds and stocks into the Ali's name as a gift, but, looking back now, these gifts are basically the payment in exchange for her.

She was sold and endured mistreatment at the hands of the most affluent and unsavory family.

"Foolish girl..." She mumbled out of the blue. Just thinking about it made her stomach upset.

"You lose your mind, girl? Why talking to yourself?" A slim, petite blonde woman lied down to the opposite sofa; Rebecca didn't respond, "C'mon girl, you better have moved on now." She continued, "And we better stop drinking, Ca, —ugh." Before even finishing her sentence, Eve hurriedly ran towards the bathroom.

Rebecca didn't bother what Eve—her only friend in town—was saying; her mind is in complete chaos, thinking where and how she could restart.

Adrenaline must have finally gone, and reality is hitting her hard now.

Thinking back, everything happened in a blink of an eye. One moment she was madly in love with Winston, thought she had finally achieved something for herself, but was slowly crushed as soon as she stepped her foot on the marble floor of the Aldine mansion.

And as she blankly stared out her foggy window, what she did was finally starting to sink to her. Rebecca is now a divorcee, a woman without a husband. Her marriage miserably failed, and her life as Cinderella ended.

Without a family to return to, kids that are far away from her, and a husband—well, an ex-husband that might chase her to the ends of the world in a bad way—is making her slowly lose her sanity.

'Fvck... What the fvck should I do now?'

"Coffee? Dang! Where the hell does that flowery black mug go? I swear I just saw it yesterday here! Did I get robbed?" Eve's voice made Rebecca frown.

"Did you eat a megaphone? Why do you have such a loud mouth? And who on earth will rob you for a single mug?" Rebecca retorted.

"I don't know! or maybe Antonio? That hippie! I swear to every fvcking utensil I have, I'll make that hippie go to hell instead of Nirvana, arghh! Antonio!" Eve started to cuss the poor boy while flipping every kitchenware she has.

In the midst of chaos, Rebecca remained unbothered; well, to be fair, her mind just kept on thinking about the unending what-ifs that made her unaware of her surroundings. To put it simply, she ignored Eve's rant.

A sudden vibrate from her phone caught her attention; she lazily reached for it but immediately made her jump from the soft cushion upon seeing whose calling her, the triplets, her kids. She immediately answered it and warmly welcomed them.

"My babies!" Rebecca's smiled from ear to ear.

"Mama!" The triplets answered her in unison.

"When will you come home, ma~?" Seven, her second born, asked with a trace of sultry in his tone.

"Oh baby, I'll see you later; let's go to the mall and eat some strawberry ice cream," Rebecca replied, avoiding her son's question.

"Really, ma? I want choco!" "Okayyy~" Sevi the eldest immediately joined the conversation, and seven agreed to his mom, forgetting his own question.

"Are you two done? Go there; I'll talk to Mama." Sena, the youngest, suddenly snatched the phone from his brother. "Wait!" His brothers voice echoed, protesting from what Sena's had done.

"Boys, it's okay; let your sister talk to Mama, okay?" Rebecca calmly asked her sons and took a few seconds before the two of them responded, Okay.

"How are you, young Missy?" Rebecca asked her daughter.

"Fine," Sena replied, then sighed shortly.

"Are you mad?" Rebecca asked, trying to control the crack in her voice.

"Kinda but not to you, just to myself."

"Why?"

It took a few seconds before Sena started to sob, which made Rebecca's heart torn into pieces; just hearing her daughter's cries made her want to immediately run back to them.

"I'm okay, ma; I just felt sad that you and Daddy are separated now," she said while wiping her tears and biting her lips, trying to control her cracked voice.

"Who told you that?" A sudden rage filled Rebecca's heart; in fact, she already has a clue, whose motherfvcker is ruining her child's emotions.

"It's okay, ma. My brothers don't know it yet... and I know they might not understand what it means. You know, they kind of dumb," Sena replied, trying to cheer up her mother.

After a few seconds, Rebecca chuckled, "Baby, you are just way too smart for your age." Rebecca held her anger and decided to feign ignorance in front of her daughter.

"Sena, my girl, just know that Daddy and Mama are just separated as husband and wife, but the three of you will always be our children. I'll always choose you, my babies; you always have me." Rebecca gave her daughter a warm smile before the sudden face of Sevi and Seven showed up in the screen.

"I love you, mama!" "Love you, ma!" "Hey, give it back!"

A nonstop riot happened before the triplets decided to end the call.

As soon as the video call ends, Rebecca's smile fades away immediately. She scrolled her phone contacts and dialed it.

"Hello? Uh, look whose calling—"

"You Fvcking piece of sh*t, how dare you do that to my daughter? It's payback time, b*tch."

She then ended the call and decided to become Rebecca Ali again.
