Chereads / Man of Soul / Chapter 13 - The Point System

Chapter 13 - The Point System

During those 10 seconds, Charles was opening the other chain. After 10 seconds, when Lucifer was screaming, "AHH" out of pain, he grabbed Lucifer's face and pulled him up.

"Morgan, grab his face."

Morgan covered Lucifer's face. Charles whispered some chants taking the chains in front of his mouth. The chains grew in size and became long enough to bind an average adult completely.

Lucifer was bound by chains and his face was covered with a cloth lying above one of the containers. Charles coughed and said, "Before we go any further, let me explain the criminal and ranking system of Interpol."

"Okay."

"The criminals are ranked based on their threat level and power. By power, it can be physical, spiritual, political, influencer and many more.

The criminals are given points. Starting from 1, which is the baseline of crime, most of the hoodlums are of about 100 to 2000 points. The pickpockets are of at least 50 points."

"Then what is 1 point for?"

"Like I said, it is just a baseline. Just think, what can the smallest crime be? There is nothing such as that, isn't it? No matter how small the crime is, it's always above the baseline."

"Why are they given points?"

"Whenever an Interpol office arrests a criminal and submits him or her to the nearest Interpol station, the officer's rank points increase.

I'll disclose Interpol's ranking after this. The criminals who are a lot bigger deal are given a lot of points along with stars. They are given stars from 1 to 5. A one-star difference means a lot here.

A 2-star criminal leader usually has about 50 or more 1-star criminals working under him or her. Criminals who are beyond the threshold of 5 stars and are considered a bigger threat by Interpol exist.

There are 10 such criminals. They all have a thing in common. On their left forearm, there is a tattoo written in an unknown language. The last human who understood that language, upon looking at the tattoo, said, 'Golden Sorceror. It's what the text says.'

Those were his last words. Those 10 criminals are so strong that their names are not known to anyone except the core members of Interpol. Their existence is known by the Interpol officers and no one else."

"Then, what about the convict?"

"He is the strongest out of all. Except for those 10. Those 10 are currently missing and rumors say that they crossed the walls."

"The walls!?"

"Shh..."

"Are you sure?"

"I don't know if it's true or not. But I wouldn't be shocked if it is true."

"Then, they must be deadly."

"They sure are. I guess you've understood this system."

"Yeah. Now tell me about our ranking system."

Charles took out a paper from his coat and explained saying, "I won't explain the ranking system but instead tell you something else which is equally important."

"For now, this should suffice. I'll explain more of it to you later."

"This is a lot to remember. How can I remember all of it?"

Charles offered the paper to him and said, "Take it with you. 10 years of work experience has dug all of it deep inside my brain. I remember all of it."

"That makes sense. Wait a minute! Did you work here for that long? How old are you?"

"I know it's hard to believe but I'm 50."

"50-year-old people are not usually this young. What's up with you? What's the secret of your youth?"

"There is no secret. It's just a blessing of nature and my parents' genes."

Morgan took the paper. He said, "Thanks for this. I'll return it to you someday." The conversation paused for a moment. Charles broke the silence.

"Now, we gotta confine this guy real good so that he won't be able to escape."

"Are we not taking him with us?"

"No way, it's too risky. I will seal him inside a box and bind the box with chains. Get me a box."

"You almost sound like a criminal."

"Is it? I often hear those compliments, but really, I'm not worth them. Just get me a box."

Morgan entered inside one of the nearest open boxes. He cleared all the junk and they packed Lucifer inside.

Charles pressed a handkerchief on Lucifer's face and poured chloroform enough to wet the handkerchief completely.

Charles grew out chains from his forearms. His thick and large forearms allowed him to grow out strong and big chains. The chains were used to bind the box.

They dragged and placed the box beside the door. This way, they could recognise the box as the nearest box to the door. They went out to the railway track and began walking north, towards the village.

Charles led the way and Morgan followed. Charles navigated through the mountains with the help of a map on his phone.

They walked for a few hours. Their path was pretty much flat till they were in front of a mountain. A mountain so tall and large that it was a must-climb.

Charles said, "After crossing this mountain, we will reach the Golden Frost Village."
