Chapter 19 - Train to Haber Port - I

Snow covered every corner of Interpol Island. Charles was walking on one of the streets. He wore thick woollen clothes.

He stopped in front of a big circular building. The building was also like a roundabout. Many streets connected there. The building had many windows, all closed.

***

Interpol Island is the place where every Interpol officer and other staff have their house given to them by Interpol.

Almost every official building of Interpol lies on that island. That island is also the property of Interpol, and no one except Interpol-related people is allowed inside the island.

***

That building was also the tallest one on the island. He went near the building. He began walking left till he reached the front door of the building.

His hand reached for the door handle. But before he could open it, the door was pulled from inside. Charles said, "What's up, Richard?"

Richard, the vice-captain of the 1st division, said, "I've got a job. It may take some months. Will you inform Mike about it?"

"Of course, but isn't he in his cabin?"

"No, he isn't."

"Then, why'd you take a mission? Hard to imagine you'd take a mission without him forcing you."

"It's a personal mission. You see, it's a side effect of being vice-captain."

"Damn, must be hard for you." Charles thought, "Damn, showing off, this guy."

Richard went out. Charles entered the office and then inside the room of Mike. No one was inside. He looked at the missions and a certain mission took his notice.

The mission was to kill Glen and eliminate every member of the Chess Coders.

***

Chess Coders is an organisation of criminals with a total of 16 members. 8 soldiers, 2 rooks, 2 knights, 2 bishops, a king and a queen.

Present...

"Then, I investigated the case and managed to kill 6 soldiers. 2 of them died at the bomb blast.

From those soldiers, I've got some Intel. According to their plan, they kidnapped my master because he was protecting Stacy. Glen went there to kill him but returned after beating Morgan.

They blasted the building to kill the three of us in one go. I've booked 3 train tickets for tomorrow night. They plan to blast the train to kill their so-called customers who plan to kill them.

Their plan will end when they successfully blast the Haber Port, the town which is the only entry point for Interpol officers. By doing that, they will stop Interpol's influence in this kingdom and kill my master.

But, I plan to stop all of that. We will ride the train and kill anyone sent by them. I don't think they will waste any of the 8 members in a train blast.

Then, we will go to Haber Port and eliminate any threat that remains."

After some ending words, the three of them took a nice sleep and did nothing much the next day.

At night, they entered the train. The sleepover train began moving. They were inside one of the last cabins. They sat on their beds and faced each other.

"It's so boring," said Morgan.

Charles asked, "What?"

After a moment of realisation, Charles said, "Oh, don't worry, it won't be a problem 'cause you will be in a fight tonight. And so will be Stacy."

"Me too? But aren't the enemy weak? Isn't Morgan enough for them?"

"Sure, but they might have spread all over the train. Search for them and hunt every single one of them. I'll deal with the bomb blast."

Morgan said, "OK, I'll sleep now."

"Hey Charles, Why's Morgan sleeping?"

"You don't know his power? Whenever he sleeps, his soul comes out of his body."

"Never knew he had such a soul ability."

"Look there," Charles pointed at the soul of Morgan and continued, "I can see him faintly. What about you?"

"I can't see him, but I can feel his aura and position. This guy sure is tough. He might be as strong as me."

Charles took his hands out of his pocket. He was holding a ribbon in his hand. He called out, "Morgan, I'll tie this ribbon on your hand. It'll increase your power significantly. Take it as a welcome gift."

With a smile, Morgan gave a thumbs-up and left the room. Charles tied the ribbon on Morgan's hand.

Stacy stared at him. He said to him, "Don't worry, you'll get a gift too."

"It's not that."

"Then, what is it?"

"I'm not satisfied with your explanation. Like, why'd you want to kill Glen this bad? I know it's your mission and all but I sense something off about you."

"What're you talking about? We're Interpol agents. We gotta give it all or we'll die in vain."

"If it were not personal for you, you would not have carried toxic feelings against Glen. You would not have carried any feelings at all. Looking at your age and experience, I must say, you would have been a lot more rational."

"Bullshit. Do I look like I have anything personal in this mission?"

"You sure do."

"Then get your eyes checked." Charles banged his fist on the bed. He continued, "Sorry, I lost composure."

"See, I knew it. You can't trick me. I'm not your casual neighbour who believes every single word you say. Nor am I ignorant enough to let it slip."

"What do you want? Why're you bothering me so much? Just do what you're supposed to. Don't meddle in others' business or you'll regret it."

"Then, what am I supposed to do?"

"Listen carefully, I'll not repeat it. Go to the driver's compartment and check if everything is alright. Talk to the driver and don't let anyone inside."

"Including you?"

"Yes, including me. Who knows, the enemy might kill me or use me to trick you. Listen, the driver must not die, at any cost. If he dies, this world will lose something valuable."

"What 'something valuable'?"

"I can't tell you yet. You need to earn my trust if you want to know confidential things like this. I can't afford to give Intel to an enemy if you turn out to be one of them."

"Fine, I give up. I don't think I can get anything out of you. I'll go."

Stacy jumped out of his bed and went to the door. He opened the door and went out.

Charles took out his phone and messaged Mike, "Sir, I can't guarantee my survival. If I need help, I'll message you. Will you come?"

"Don't take me for granted. I'll surely come. But only to retrieve your dead body. I'm your captain, not your plot armour. Bye."
