Chereads / Man of Soul / Chapter 25 - The Commander Of Charles

Chapter 25 - The Commander Of Charles

Glen raised his fist. A drop of sweat dropped from his forehead as he thought, "Shit, will it work?"

Mark landed. A blue, circular plate formed out of the bubble on his fist. Boom! A loud explosion made a strong wave of air. The vehicles, houses and even some ships near the scene were destroyed on the spot.

Glen's protection did save him. But the buildings near him collapsed. Mark was tossed about 100 meters away by the recoil of the move.

The metallic body slowly melted. Charles was back. With a quick look around the scene, he pretty much analysed the situation.

Without another thought, he rushed towards the storeroom. He thought, "This beast had to do it. I just hope they're not dead yet."

After a few minutes, he managed to enter the storeroom. But, what he saw was something terrifying.

Meanwhile...

Inside a dark room full of monitors with only one person inside, observing with sips of coffee.

He thought, "Why do I have to concentrate this much? I agree that Mike is worried. But, couldn't he just go there instead of making me do all the labour?"

On one of the screens, the wall of the storeroom was destroyed as a large figure came out of the wreck punching someone. The person was not clear.

The man lost his balance on the chair. He barely managed to not spil the coffee. He put his coffee aside and observed extra carefully on that screen.

He thought, "Isn't that Charles? But, I've never seen him like that. Not just Charles, I've never seen or heard of someone going rampage in that sort of form. Anyways, I ought to report now."

He took out his phone and speed dialed 1. He said, "Mike, come here. Something weird is happening."

"What is it?"

"See for yourself."

He hung up the phone and continued having sips of coffee. He pressed a button. He thought, "Now, this should do it. Finally, I'm off for today. Man, today sure was exhausting."

The door of the room slammed open. Mike entered the room and stood behind the man. The man pointed at the monitor.

"Damn, what the hell is going on there?"

"I think it's Charles."

"But, I've never seen him like that. If he is Charles, he is in danger."

"Aren't you his commander? Go and save him or something."

"What do you think commanders are? We never just go and assist them. At most, we provide indirect help. My post sucks. But to some extent, I agree with what my post says."

Boom! The two of them crashed and exploded. The monitor blanked out. Mike said, "What just happened?"

The man was already off balance. Mike grabbed his chair and asked, "Hey, what happened?"

"The drone. The drone took some of the shock. And was destroyed."

"Damn, I've got no option. I gotta go."

"But, didn't you just say you won't?"

"You know, when your disciple is in real trouble, you gotta save him."

Mike went out of the room, ran through the corridor, and reached the balcony. Outside, snow covered the whole area.

They were on the Interpol Island. Mike could see the sea. He jumped from the balcony and landed smoothly on the road from the top of the 25-story building.

With another strong yet gentle push, he thrust himself forward and reached for the end of the island. Just after he crossed the land, a hand pulled him behind and forced him to stop.

He said, "Damn, let me go or I'll kill ya."

"I'd like to see you try."

"Oh, so it's you. What problem do you have with me going there?"

"I just got here from a helicopter. It'll go faster than you. Even if you're extraordinary in terms of speed, beating a helicopter is still not your cup of tea."

"Then, where's the helicopter?"

The helicopter landed on the ground, making a loud sound and a strong wave of air. Both of them rode it.

The helicopter departed for the Haber Port.

Haber Port, near the storeroom...

Glen hid inside a random truck after killing and clearing the driver out of the scene. He took deep breaths. He lit a cigar as the previous cigar dropped during the fight.

He began processing what just happened. He stormed his thoughts. He thought, "At first, he jumped towards him. I shot him and turned.

Then, out of nowhere, all his injuries healed and he turned into a large lump of metal. It seemed like he was not himself anymore. If he was that strong, he would've killed me by now with ease.

But, he acted like a brainless monster. Sure, his battle IQ was not bad. But, he could have done a lot better. That beast destroyed me. But, I've still not lost. This is my chance.

So, I can only think of 3 possibilities. First, he has recently discovered this technique and can't use it with much control. Second, he has something inside him that captured him and his soul.

Third, he can use this technique with full control. But his feelings altered his thoughts, and he became wild. So, maybe, he developed his alter ego.

Anyway, what should I do now? The fact remains that this is his trump card, and he might not use it again. If he uses it again, I'm a goner.

Ignoring that possibility, which might be arrogance, I can still win. Besides that beast, I know every best move of his. For now, I'll go with boxing and crush him.

If he changes his form again, I'll run. OK, so this is final."

Charles entered the storeroom. He retrieved the body of Morgan and Stacy. He shifted them away from the scene and returned.

Glen stood in front of him, a few yards away, glaring at him with cold eyes. Both ran towards each other. Then, the fistfight began.

Charles was clearly at a disadvantage right off the bat. Still, he continued. After long, action and emotion-packed blows of brotherhood and flashes of ex-friendship years, tears dropped from the eyes of both of them.

Even if they saw a strong hatred amongst each other deep inside, both of them had a true sense of friendship. But why did they become the kind of enemies who were so bloodthirsty of each other that they could even drink each other's blood?
