Chereads / Man of Soul / Chapter 16 - Golden Frost Village

Chapter 16 - Golden Frost Village

Charles was struck with the thought, "Morgan's in danger!"

He stood up and ran towards where Morgan's body was. After about 5 minutes of running, cold air froze his lungs and face.

He reached where Morgan's body was. Morgan's eyes were open. But he was as good as dead. He wasn't moving at all. Charles checked his heartbeat and pulse rate. They were working.

He shook Morgan's body and shouted, "Say something!" He slapped Morgan hard on both cheeks. Morgan's eyes almost popped out.

He shouted out of pain, "Ouch! What're you doing?"

Charles touched his chest with his palms spread. He sighed in relief. He said, "Thank god, I would have been kicked out of my work if you were dead."

Morgan replied with a smirk, "Really?"

Morgan stood up. But he could not move his left leg. Right after standing, he lost balance and fell on his butt.

Morgan said, "Damn it! Why can't I move my left leg?"

Charles's relieved expression faded and turned normal. He asked, "Weren't you in soul form? Did you do the job? Something must have gone wrong. First, you are unconscious but have your eyes open. And you can't move your foot. What happened?"

Morgan said, "I mistakenly killed the archers. But when I was about to return, someone got me. I was busy fighting him. That guy used a pendant to beat me. He shot on my left leg and my forehead."

Morgan explained the full story. Charles listened to all of it in silence. After Morgan finished, Charles said, "I'm remembering something. Pendant, MS-16, um, why is it so familiar."

Charles pressed his thoughts. After a while, he widened his eyelids. He took a few steps backwards and almost fell but managed to balance himself. He said, "Glen! Why the fuch is he doing this?"

"Doing what? Who's Glen? What's going on?"

"He was one of my fellow agents. But, he became a gang leader. For some reason, he bears a grudge against me. And he has killed every agent that has ever worked under me."

"Damn, then he must be real shit. I would not wanna be his next target."

"Fool, his target is you and you just fought him!"

"What?! That was him?!"

Charles put his hand on his forehead and said, "Couldn't you be any good? I won't blame you though. How good would a newbie be anyway? But, I think I should train you very soon. Look forward to a small training session soon."

Charles took the fire cloth from the ground and put it inside his pocket. They hiked their way down, heading down towards the village. As they looked up, the mountains on the other side of the village were just too tall.

So tall that all the other mountains were just buds compared to them. The rays of early sunrise gently touched their face. The view was majestic. Slowly, every flake of snow turned golden.

Charles pointed at the tall hills and said, "Did you know those tall mountains there are the main mountains of Gloden Hill Belt?"

"What's Gloden Hill Belt? You see, I'm not any good in geography."

"I see. Wait a minute, don't you know Gloden Hill Belt? You're so clueless that you make me feel like a nerd."

Golden Hill Belt is the only mountain range in the Alfred Continent, the only continent with human settlement. There are other Continents where people live. But no one settled out of Alfred.

The mountain range split the Viking Kingdoms from the rest of the continent. The mountain range had some mysteries that had never been solved and no logic could define an answer for it.

The Mountain range was like an almost straight line separating north and south. However, in the whole world, only around that mountain range, the sun rose from the north.

As weird as it may sound, it was true. And whenever the sun rose, for a minute, every flake of snow in that area turned golden. Golden Frost Village was the only human settlement from where the golden snowy environment could be enjoyed.

As good of a tourist spot as the village was, the only way to enter the village was to walk. No vehicles were allowed in that place or even nearby. Even after a tiresome walk, entering the village was not free.

A special pass was required. Even the Interpol officers were only allowed till their entrance doors in normal cases.

When Charles finished explaining, they were in front of the village entrance. The village was covered by a tall circle-shaped wall. The wall was about 100 meters tall. The semi-circular door was 25 meters tall. On the top of the wall, there was a passage for soldiers to walk for large cannons to be used and a lot of cannon balls to fuel them.

Soldiers walked on the passage, keeping an eye out for infiltrators. All this way, Charles carried Morgan on his back. Charles took steps forward. The two soldiers blocked their way in with spears. Charles took out his ID card and showed it to the soldiers. He said, "I'm here to take Stacy."

One of the guards said in a heavy voice, "Wait a minute; he's coming."

Both the guards stood 7 feet tall and had muscular bodies. They almost looked like giants. Charles looked around. Every guard was of the same height. A sound came from behind, "Open the gates! Stacy is coming."

The two soldiers turned and pushed the door behind them. The door slowly opened, revealing a dark passage. The wall was so thick that even the open door could not match it. An average-looking guy wearing glasses, a hoodie, trousers and boots came out. The guy was 6 feet 3 inches tall and had a lean figure.

The guy had long, blonde hair. On his back, he carried a bow and an arrow case full of colourful arrows. Morgan looked at him with barely open eyes. Every second, Morgan was getting more and more tired. Since the bullet was shot, his energy was being absorbed by it. Charles knew that but didn't mention it to Morgan.

The guy reached in front of Charles and offered a handshake to Charles. They shook hands as The guy said, "Nice to meet you. Hoping to work with you. My name is Stacy. Mind telling me yours?"
