Chapter 6: "A Coffee Date"
Leah agreed to meet Max for coffee, curious about his interests and wanting to be friendly. As they sat down at a cozy café, Max proved to be charming and easy to talk to, sharing stories about his passion for music and his dreams for the future.
Leah found herself laughing and feeling at ease, but a part of her couldn't help but wonder what Angelo would think if he knew she was having coffee with Max. She pushed the thought aside, focusing on the present moment.
As they sipped their lattes, Max asked Leah about her favorite artists, and they discovered a shared love for indie rock. He recommended some new bands, and they geeked out over music festivals and concerts.
The conversation flowed effortlessly, and Leah found herself feeling more and more comfortable around Max. He was easygoing and kind, with a quick wit and a warm smile.
As they finished their drinks, Max walked Leah out of the café, and they strolled through the quiet streets. The evening air was crisp, and the stars were beginning to twinkle overhead.
"Thanks for the coffee, Leah," Max said, his voice low and sincere. "I really enjoyed getting to know you better."
Leah smiled, feeling a sense of warmth towards Max. "I had a great time too, Max. You're really easy to talk to."
As they stood outside her house, Max hesitated, then asked, "Would you like to grab dinner with me sometime? Maybe we could check out that new restaurant downtown?"
Leah hesitated, unsure of how to respond. She didn't want to lead Max on, but she also didn't want to hurt his feelings.
Just then, Angelo appeared from across the street, his eyes fixed on Leah with a hint of possessiveness. "Hey, Leah, I saw you guys walking and thought I'd join you."
Max's expression turned slightly tense, but he nodded at Angelo before turning back to Leah. "I'll catch you later, Leah. Think about that dinner invite, okay?"
As Max walked away, Angelo turned to Leah, his eyes sparkling with a mix of curiosity and concern. "So, what's going on with you and Max?"
Leah shrugged, feeling a flutter in her chest. "We just grabbed coffee and talked about music. That's all."
Angelo nodded, but his gaze lingered, as if searching for something more. "You know, Leah, I've noticed Max has been paying a lot of attention to you lately."
Leah raised an eyebrow, feeling a hint of defensiveness. "So what if he has? We're just friends, Angelo."
Angelo held up his hands, his expression softening. "Hey, I'm not accusing you of anything, Leah. I just want to make sure you're okay. You deserve someone who treats you right."
Leah's heart skipped a beat at the sincerity in Angelo's voice. She knew he was looking out for her, but a part of her wondered if there was more to his concern than just friendship.
As they stood there, the silence between them grew thicker, filled with unspoken questions and unresolved tension.

Angelo's eyes seemed to bore into hers, as if searching for a hidden truth. Leah felt a shiver run down her spine, and she looked away, breaking the gaze.
"Thanks, Angelo," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I appreciate your concern."
Angelo nodded, his expression softening. "Anytime, Leah. That's what friends are for."
The tension between them dissipated, and they stood there for a moment, the only sound being the crickets chirping in the nearby bushes.
"Well, I should get going," Angelo said finally, nodding towards his house. "See you around, Leah."
Leah watched him walk away, feeling a mix of emotions swirling inside her. She wasn't sure what to make of Angelo's behavior, but she knew one thing - she couldn't deny the spark that had flown between them.
As she turned to go inside, she noticed a piece of paper on the ground. She picked it up, and her heart skipped a beat as she saw the scribbled note:
"Meet me at the park at 7 pm. -M"
Max! Leah's mind raced as she wondered what he wanted to meet about. Was it just a friendly hangout, or was there something more to it?
