PLANNING PHASE
Chloe's heart warmed with joy as she was reunited with her sister.
"Trixie!" She exclaimed, her face brightening up with a smile.
She held her in her arms and did a quick scan with her eyes to ensure that she was unharmed, letting out a breath of relief at the absence of any evidence of such.
"Did they hurt you?" She asked with a small frown.
"No."
She hugged her sister tight and directed her gaze to Desmond behind her, muttering a "thank you". He gave a curt nod in return.
"We need to get on with the precautions soon, including moving in." He informed ,staring at the two sisters.
Processing the information, Chloe turned her gaze to Samael. "Can Trixie live with my friend instead? I would prefer it if she wasn't entangled in this whole thing." She voiced out.
"That would be best, you would be better without any distractions." He replied with a nonchalant shrug showing his lack of concern.
With that it was decided that Trixie would go to live with Amanda after a week so that Chloe could spend a little more time with her sister before they were separated.
Over the next few days, Desmond prepared her for assuming the role as Samael's fiancée, making every decision and answering all of her questions.
"Why does Samael need a fake fiancée so badly?" She asked him one of those days when Trixie was playing with one of the maids and Samael was nowhere to be found as usual.
She was aware that he tried to stay away from her at all times, except when necessary. Because of that she had barely had any interactions with him, which she was totally fine with.
"I'm not sure if that is something I should tell you." Desmond answered with hesitation.
"I need to know everything about him so that this can work. You wouldn't want someone to get suspicious because you left me in that dark would you?" She goaded with a frown.
"Alright, I will tell you," He started reluctantly.
"The thing is Samael has a strained relationship with his family and his father does not trust him because of that." He explained.
"How does that relate to his love life?" She asked with furrowed eyebrows.
"His father had been in an affair with his secretary, who is Samael's mother. As you can imagine this did not bode well with his family and it led to hatred between the children. He has a step older brother and younger sister but they had never had a good relationship from childhood because of the circumstances surrounding his birth." He narrated with a frown.
Chloe listened to the story with a puzzled expression.
"So why-"
"I will get to that in a minute." He said cutting her off and giving her a look before he continued.
"As expected, his step-brother had taken over their father's company when he was old enough. But a few months ago he was arrested for embezzlement of funds so Samael made it his goal to take over the company. However, Mr Zues gave him a condition for taking over the company; he has to get married. His father is paying him a visit soon to meet his fiancée and that is why you ended up here." He finally finished with a knowing smirk.
"Is that why he lives alone in this huge mansion? because his family hates him?" She asked with a thoughtful expression.
"Hmmn, and before you ask, his mother is hospitalized so he cannot live with her." He divulged.
"That's why he was in the hospital on that day…" She thought to herself.
Chloe had many more questions on her mind but she didn't want to seem too nosy, so she decided to jump the gun and ask him anyway.
"Why didn't he ask a girlfriend or something?" She prodded.
"I did you have sked enough questions for today. I'm going to take my leave now, if you need anything else, you can ask me tomorrow." He dodged her question and rose to his feet, already leaving the room.
"Fine, I'll ask tomorrow." She muttered as he exited the room.
"I'm sure he does not have a girlfriend. Who would even want to be with an emotionless person like him." She thought with a scoff.
The rest of the week passed in this manner, Chloe continued to interrogate Desmond at every opportunity and stayed away from her fake fiancé.
Eventually, the day came for Trixie to go and live with her friend, Amanda. Samael had a driver take them to Amanda's house with the child's belongings.
Chloe walked to the living room holding her sister by her hands, after Amanda had let them in.
"Trixie is going to stay with you for a while, don't worry I will pay for any expenses that are incurred during her stay." She told Amanda's with a tearful gaze. This is the first time she would be separated from the child since she was born.
"That's fine, she can stay with me for as long as you need and I will take very good care of her," Amanda replied with a kind smile, reassuring her friend.
Directing her gaze to her sister, Chloe crouched to her level holding her small hands and looking her straight in the eyes.
"Trixie you're going to stay with Amanda for a while okay?" She addressed her, forcing a smile for the sake of the child.
"But why?" Trixie asked with big innocent eyes.
"So that you can be healthy like before, and we don't have to see those bad men ever again." She explained, looking into her eyes.
"But I want to stay with you! I can be healthy and those bad men will not find us." Trixie argued with a pout, tears already leaking from her eyes.
"I promise it's just for a little while then we will be able to live together again." She vowed, wiping her own tears.
"No!" Trixie cried adamantly.
"Just go, I will take care of her." Amanda said to her with a small smile to lessen her worries.
Chloe reluctantly agreed and said "goodbye," before making her way to the door, hearing Trixie's cries and screams behind her. She was a sobbing mess.
"Chloe… don't go!" She stammered between tears.
Chloe held her hands to her mouth to muffle her own cries and turned around to look at her sister one more time.
She stopped as Trixie's eyes rolled to the back of her head and her body dropped to the floor with a small thud.
"Trixie!"
