EMERGENCY CALL
"What- Trixie? Is she okay?" Chloe asked with worry in her tone.
"Your sister is fine, I'm calling to inform you that her surgery has been scheduled for two days from now." The female voice explained.
"Oh? That's fine, thank you." She let out a relived smile, delighted at the news.
That night despite all the troubles that weighed on her mind, Chloe slept with a warmth in her chest and a smile on her lips.
The day of the Craniotomy had finally arrived and Chloe woke up bright and early to spend some time with Trixie before the surgery.
"Good morning." She greeted Desmond with a smile as she caught sight of in the kitchen where the chef was already preparing some food for him.
Chloe had often wondered if he never ate any place else with how often he stepped foot into the kitchen.
"Do you have any questions for me today?" He asked with his focus mainly on the chef that was perfectly flipping a panicke.
"Not at the moment." She answered as she retrieved a bottle of water from the fridge.
"Are you going somewhere?" He asked, noticing her haste to leave
Chloe gve him a side eye, feeling a twinge of annoyance and slight puzzlement.
"Had Samael not told him that Trixie is hospitalized?" She thought with a tiny frown, expecting that he would have known since he seemed to always know everything.
"I'm going to the hospital." She plainly answered
Desmond gave her an understanding nod, not bothering to say another word.
Chloe squinted her eyes at him for a short second wondwring why he had asked in the first place if her was already aware.
"He's probably fishing for information for his boss." She resoned before silently making her way out of the house.
After Chloe arrived at the hospital, decided to firstly make a detour to the doctors office.
"Welcome Miss Rufus, you must be here about Trixie's procedure, yes?" The doctor initiated as soon as he saw her.
"Yes." Chloe answered, wringing her hands.
"Sit, let me explain a few things…" at that, the doctor told her all she needed to know about the surgery, answering any questions and concerns she might have and assuring her of Trixie's safety.
"Just go ahead and sign the concenst form and any other documents at the desk before we start with the procedure." He said kindly.
Chloe gave him an appreciative nod and went ahead to do as he instructed before making her way to Trixie's room.
When she arrived a nurse was going about the room taking her vitals and all the necessary things.
"Chloe!" Her sister's voice called across as she saw her.
With a smile on her face, Chloe approached her and set herself on a stool by the bed.
She held her sister in her arms and gave her a kiss on her forehead.
"Chloe am I going to heaven like mummy?" The child asked innocently.
"No you're not, you are my little fighter and you're going to survive." Chloe instantly replied shaking her head with a firm gaze.
"Will it hurt?" She asked again.
Chloe's eyes softened, sensing that Trixie was just as scared as she was.
"It won't hurt at all, I'm going to give you a magic shot and you'll barely feel a thing." The nurse replied instead. giving her a smile.
"Really?" Trixie asked looking at her sister for confirmation.
"Yes." She confirmed with a nod before placing another kiss on her forehead.
After the two sisters had their moment, another nurse came to the room to move the child to the surgery room.
"I love you." Was the last thing Chloe said to the drowsy child before the door to the theater was shut.
While the surgery was going on, Chloe paced back and forth in front of the room with a distressed look.
She noticed a couple sitting on a bench a few feet away from her give her pitiful looks, but she ignored them.
Chloe sat for a minute after her legs became sore, but even then she was still restless to sty still, tapping her legs against the shiny tiled floors.
Her movements were interrupted by the chime of her phone. Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion the sight of the caller ID, it was a call from Sameal.
"Does he want to ask about the surgery?" She thought.
"You need to return home right now!" His voice announced instead.
"What are you talking about, I'm at the hospital." She replied thinking he might be trying to pass her off, as usual.
"My father has arrived and is demanding to see you, so I don't care where the fuck you are, you're coming back now!" He yelled into the phone.
"Are you out of your mind, my sister's surgery is going on and you actually expect me to run over like a little lap dog?" She whisper yelled into the phone as her grip tightened around it.
"Yes, that is exactly what I expect from you." He stated arrogantly.
"And what if I don't?" She taunted with a scowl, already over the whole conversation.
"That's simple, you will face charges of defamation and Impersonation. Also I will ensure you face a lawsuit so profound that you will never be able to get out of it." He replied in a similar tone.
"I am not sacred of you!" She exclaimed with gritted teeth even though her trembling hands and sweaty palms said otherwise.
"You should be." He said ominiously.
"Why should I?" Chloe felt the intense urge to Jang up the phone, but for some unknown reason she could not actually bring herself to do so.
"I can pull out the expenses for the surgery right this minute." He threatened.
"You- you can't do that, the contract!" She exclaimed as the blood seemed to drained out of her face.
"Try me." He said, sounding as if he knew that he had already won.
Chloe stared at the white closed doors of the surgery room at a loss for speech.
"So what is it going to be?"
