HEARTLESS FIANCÉ
"Trixie!"
Her yell caught the attention of the guard that had accompanied her and with his help they quickly rushed her to the hospital.
Chloe anxiously paced outside the hospital room as the doctor attended to her sister. Her head swivelled as the doctor stepped out of the room.
"How is she, doctor?" She asked impatiently, rushing over to him.
"It seems her condition is declining much faster than we expected, we need to perform the surgery soon." He replied with a small frown.
"I have arranged for the expenses, you can do the surgery as soon as possible. You need to save my sister." She said with wide eyes.
"If so I will schedule a date for her surgery and get back to you soonest." The man promised.
"Thank you doctor."
"You can see her now, but she's asleep. It will be best if she stays in the hospital until her surgery." He admitted with sympathy in his eyes.
Chloe nodded and gave him a grateful smile before she headed to her sister's room, gently shutting the door behind her.
She stayed in the hospital until late throat a nurse had to inform her to leave.
"It is already past visiting hours, I cannot allow you to stay any longer than this," the nurse had said after coming to inform her to leave for the second time.
"Fine," She reluctantly replied, adjusting her blanket and softly placing a kiss on Trixie's forehead before she slowly left the hospital.
It was already past midnight when she stepped into the mansion, feeling a wave of tiredness wash over her. The day had been a whirlwind of events.
"What took you so long?"
"Fuck, you scared me!" Chloe jumped as she spotted Samael who was staring her down from the top of the stairs.
"It is past midnight." He stated blandly, ignoring what he regarded as an overly dramatic reaction.
"I was at the hospital with my sister, I'm sure you already know that by now." She retorted with an eye roll.
Chloe was worn out with her emotions all over the place, and she was interested in any form of confrontation with Samael after he had been barely acknowledging her presence throughout the week. She could do without talking to him for another week.
"That was not my question. I couldn't care less that your sister is in the hospital, but this is not an acceptable hour for you to be returning to my house as my fiancée!" He said with gritted teeth.
"Excuse me?" Chloe exclaimed in surprise. She could not believe that he would be so cruel over something she couldn't control, the life of a child, nonetheless.
"Just make sure that that child does not interfere with our plans, or we will have bigger problems to deal with." He answered insensitively, before he disappeared up the stairs.
"Fuck you!" Chloe exclaimed in frustration as she glared at his retreating form.
"How can he be so heartless?" She thought angrily.
After Desmond told her about his childhood she had begun to feel pity for him, but all that sympathy disappeared and she came to the conclusion that he was really a terrible man.
Her eyes blurred with tears and her body shook with anger as she stormed off to her room.
The next day Chloe returned from her visit to þe hospital and Samael called her to his office. She sucked her teeth in annoyance, having planned to ignore him as much as possible, regardless she went to his office.
"What do you want?" She asked rudely immediately as she stepped into his office.
"Since when do you lack the basic decency to knock before entering?" He asked with raised eyebrows looking even more infuriating than usual.
"Look who is talking about decency." She thought with a scoff.
With a roll of her eyes she replied to him, "You called for me, or did you not?".
She saw him clench his jaw to suppress his anger.
"Why did you call for me? Are you going to ^I've me another speech about how my sister is supposedly a liability?" She asked impatiently, already sick of being in the same room as him.
"Take this." He said handing her a small fancy looking box.
Chloe scrutinised the object in her hands and already knew that it was, but she chose to annoy him further.
"What is this?" She asked with a slight downturn of her lips.
"Open it." He instructed monotonously.
With a shrug, she opened the box to be met with the sight of a ring, it was a silver band with a huge gem embedded in the middle, it was surrounded with smaller diamonds, which went on to cover the whole band.
"What is this?" Chloe asked with a scowl, she thought everything was already becoming too real and she did not like that, at all.
"A ring, obviously. Put it on, "he said with a bored tone.
"Why?" She asked again.
He gave her another look, then his eyes shifted in realisation."You can leave now."
Chloe snapped the box shut, taking the it along as she rose from the chair,
"Gladly!" She loudly muttered before storming out of his office, slamming the door as she left.
She ignored the curious gaze that Desmond gave her as passed beside her and frowned all the way to her room.
Chloe tossed the box on her bed carelessly and let out an annoyed groan.
"I don't think I can do this anymore." She thought bitterly.
She caught a glance of her reflection in the mirror,
"I have to do this for Trixie, and I will, no matter how insufferable he is." She determined with a frown.
She pulled out of her thoughts by the sound of a ringing phone. She had gotten a new one recently after she lost the old one.
Quickly locating it, she saw that she was receiving a call from the hospital, she raised the phone to her ear immediately.
"Am I speaking with Miss Rufus?" The voice on the other end asked curiously.
"Yes, Chloe Rufus." She answered with an anxious frown.
"We are calling concerning your sister. Trixie…"
