"Grrrr" It growled taking a step forward, its piercing red eyes fixed on us with daunting intensity.
We all took another step back a few stumbling onto the ground, finger digging into the mud.
I felt shaken, my legs trembling as I placed a hand on my leg, trying to calm myself down, I observed the others, who weren't much better than me or even worse. I glanced back at the beast 'It probably hasn't attacked us yet because of our numbers, it's only observing us for weaknesses right now'
"Don't show weakness! Our numbers is what keeping it away right now, stand tall!" I said loudly as i stood as tall as I could and looked at it in it's eyes.
Everyone who stumbled and had their legs trembling, came back to their senses, well mostly.
Lucas who was on the ground stood up and puffed out his chest "That's right! Don't let this mutt put fear in us!"
Everyone else followed suit, standing tall and looking into the beasts eyes, it tilted its head, as if confused and took a step back, its eyes still observing us with suprising intelligence.
It's fur rustled as it began to pace side to side, a low growl reverberated through the air.
"I'm not dying here, I say we all charge at once and take this beast down" Kiran said as he clenched his fist, his voice sounding ready, but the slight crack of uncertainty gave him away.
I kept an eye on the beast as it continued to pace side to side "Are you suicidal? We don't even know how strong it is" i said to Kevin trying not to make any rash decisions.
"I agree with Kevin. He's right, if we try to run, it'll just catch us one by one, we must kill it together!"
Lucas said firmly to me, as if the decision had already been made, I looked at Lucas about to reply.
The wolf growing impatient took another step forward.
"Zerith, we can do this, all together, just like the caretaker said" Lyra said to me putting a hand on my shoulder.
Loooking at her i sighed knowing she was right "I suppose there's no other way around it"
"Everyone get ready to fight!"
Everyone raised their hands and got in their stances at Lucas's deceleration, even there our sweaty palms and trembling legs gave us away.
I lifted my hand, summoning an attack.
"Fire.."
The beast then suddenly whimpered, and bowed it's massive head slightly "huh, is it submitting to our power?" Someone said in the group.
'Is it really backing down?' I thought not really trusting this change from the beast.
"What's going on?" Lyra said, her originally cheery voice gone and replaced by a shaky bravado of braveness and confusing.
"Not sure, It doesn't want to fight?" Kiran said to Lyra uncertainty creeping into his voice even more.
The beast continue to whimper as it turned around and walked away.
As we saw this we all collectively breathed out a sigh of relief, and slowly put our hands down.
"Agggh!"
"Someone hel.."
"Ugh" i held my arm, a spike embedded deep within,I gasped at the searing pain coursing through me. I looked at the others who stood at the front of the group, a few dead but most injured.
I glanced back at the beast to see it turned back to us, it's expression almost seemed triumphant before it let out a growl and ran towards us, it's speed seemed blinding as it appeared infront of us instantly biting off someone's head, blood splattering everywhere under everyone's shocked and terrified eyes, before lunging at another and doing the same.
I raised my hand and shot out a fire ball.
"Fire ball"
A fire ball formed over my hand and shot towards the wolf, it sensed it coming and moved to the side, the blood of my friends, flowing down its fur as it licked its lips.
Lyra unleashed a gust of wind her face with a determined frown, the force striking its face with a low whimper. The beasts head jerked to the side as the attack connected, but it quickly recovered its red eyes burning with fury.
Before it could retaliate, kiran surged forward, his fist encased with jagged Earth. With a feirce shout, he swung his rocky fist into the creature's jaw. The impact sent out a resounding crunch through the air as the beast stumbled back, shaking its head, but didn't go down.
A low, guttural growl escaped the wolf as it locked its gaze on Kiran, its body poised to strike. Without warning, it's massive form hurtling through the air, claws outstretched.
It's jaws opened wide to bite down on Kirans head, Kiran raised his hands in a futile attempt to defend himself.
"Water beam"
A beam of high speed water, hit the beasts face pushing its body away, making its jaws chomp air, as its body tumbled on the ground as it made its way back on its feet, its head lowered as he walked towards Lucas, pushing through his attack.
Kiran watching this secretly took a sigh of relief 'that was a close call'
The 13 remaining people surrounded around the beast, sending attacks, water beams, wind slashes and lighting bolts etc, at the beast.
The beasts body jerked back and forth, as it got bombarded by different attacks. Its thick skin, not being able to fully prevent the full brunt.
"Come on, just fall already!"
I kept sending fire balls at it, but I didn't put too much mana into my attacks, to not empty my capacity.
The others began to slow down before stopping completely, as the mist and dust cleared, the beast was revealed once more. It's skin charred and bloodied… but very much alive.
"Its still alive?… how?" Lyra panted as looked shocked and resigned at the beast that looked as furious as ever.
"I heard beasts were strong… but this is impossible" Kiran said as he was on his knees panting.
"We're not done yet!" Lucas said as he held out his hand to attack, but nothing came out, he was empty like the rest.
The beast limped as it moved, blood dripping to the ground, it's eyes looking at us with a feral intensity, spikes formed on it's body once more.
'Oh shit'
"Ugh"
"Aghh!"
"Aghh!"
Spikes shot out its body once more in every direction.
I held my stomach, as the spike pierced through my stomach "Aghh" I gasped as pain exploded through me, 'I'm loosing too much blood' blood pooled around my fingers. Many more have died around me as I looked around, nobody was left standing but me.
The wolf growled as it glared at me and began to advance toward me, i glared at it back.
"I won't let you end me here! You are nothing!" I shouted in rage as this beast has took everything from me from the start 'my friends, my dreams, my life'
"Fire fists"
I enveloped my fists with fire and ran towards it "ahhhh!" My fist connected with its face, jerking its head to the side, it's jaw opened wide as it bit on my shoulder in reply, "aghh!", I pushed against its body as it continued to chomp harder on my shoulder, I pumped more mana to my hands, making the fire on my hands grow bigger and hotter, my hands began to sink into its body, as it howled in pain and let go, my shoulder hanged loose off my body, blood pooling around me.
It growled as it prepared to advance once more but it paused for moment, perhaps hesitant.
"If you think I'm gonna go so easily then your wrong! I won't go down without a fight!"
I held up my only fist as i prepared for my final stand, but the wolf didn't advance this time it looked into my eyes before limping away.
"No,no,no! Where are you going you coward! Come back and fight me!"
I yelled in rage as the beast, ignored me and limped away out of sight.
'What? Is that it, I couldn't even avenge my friends, or myself? I… even though my capacity was almost empty, I believed I could've ended the wolf before I died, at least taking it with me' tears streamed down my face in anguish as I looked down at my bloody hands 'All awakened get the ability to be able to regenerate all be it slowly, so that foul beast will most likely live on, whilst me?' I looked down at my shoulder hanging off my body, blood pooling around my feet and the spikes still embedded in my stomach and arm 'There is no hope' my vision became blurry before I fell down unconscious and limp.
