Chapter 7 - Unexpected

A few moments before…

A tall man stood on on a thick tree branch on one of the towering trees, calmly observing the end of the fight between Zerith and his friends against the beast.

"Not bad, for a bunch of humans"

His expression was arrogant, as his lips curled up into a small smile, his red shoulder length hair made him look majestic, with his sharp green eyes that watched how things were unfolding with an appraising intensity.

The conflict neared the end as he continued to watch, Zeriths final stand against the wolf.

'Interesting, even though pretty much every year, these useless human orphans, perish before even reaching the Acadamy gates, these seem different. Their teamwork, individual strengths, and the fact they're putting a fight against a tier one low wolf type beast with Earth elemental, a beast having an element at such a low stage, is very rare'

He chuckled slightly as he watched Zerith cry, 'such weakness, but such a strong will. A pathetic waste of determination'

As Zerith fell unconscious, The man dropped down from the tree branch and landed on the forest floor casually, right in front of the fallen orphans.

The moment he landed 5 figures landed behind him, in black cloaks, which gave them a darker feeling in contrast to the tall man with a classy suit and tie.

One of the cloaked men raised their head and paused for a moment before speaking.

"Sir roan, you're supposed to be at the council right no.."

As one of the cloaked men spoke, Roan simply raised his hand making the man be silent instantly and bow his head slightly.

Roan glanced at the orphans, with a small sneer as he raised his chin "Heal the ones that are alive. Take them to the acadamy" he turned away from the orphans and looked at the cloaked men, who kept their head lowered, not daring to make eye contact "Rivals are important for growth, the more my son faces challenges the more he'll grow, regular humans or not. I feel that they will be useful"

With that being said he walked off leaving behind the cloaked men.

The men looked at each other with hesitation.

"Interfering with the Acadamy, is against the rules, but what can we do, it's Roan's wishes"

"Let's just get it over with"

They took out what looked to be a triangular bronze metallic objects, and inspected the orphans, any that were still breathing, they placed the object on there heads. Once they did that they put the orphans over there shoulders and traveled towards the Acadamy.

Four hours later…

A dull ache throbbed in Zeriths skull as he blinked his eyes open, the world around him a blur. His body felt heavy, as if weighed down by invisible chains, and his limbs tingled with pins and needles. The faint sound of rustling leaves and distant voices filtered through the fog of his mind. His mouth was dry, and for a moment, he couldn't remember where he was or why everything hurt so much. Slowly the pieces fell back into place. The pain, the fight, the bastard beast.

I glanced around, I was in a bed, in the comfort of a duve, a room with 3 other beds, a kitchen and 2 doors, one for the exit and the other presumably for the bathroom, the walls were painted white and the furniture was black and grey.

'My arm is healed, and I'm in a dorm? How did I get to the acadamy?' I stood up and strolled to the other bed to see who it was, I took slow steps until I appeared beside the bed.

"No mom, 2 more minutes" the guy mumbled in his sleep as he hugged the duve tighter.

"Haha" i chuckled in relief 'Kirans alive… thank god…. but how?' I looked over to the other bed to see Lucas snoring, his blonde hair over his face as he rolled around.

I smiled, feeling a weight off my shoulders, at seeing them both alive. The image of them both laying almost as if dead with the others, had made me believe they had truley gone.

'I wonder who saved me, but…'

"Who ever saved me and my friends, I'll definitely thank you, I swear it"

'Hopefully the others are all alive also'
