Chapter 12 - The ruins of magic

King Zylir, who does not tolerate impostors interfering in his feast, decides to grant Amon and Koman lodging in Manzenier due to Amon's impressive performance. Despite their illegal participation, he is generous and lets them stay in upscale accommodation - better than they were ever used to. After sending the two there, he turns back to his feast, but ponders what they said. He wonders where they got the knowledge of magic from and decides to keep an eye on them. He recognizes her potential and thinks about how he could win her over for his purposes in the future.

Then came a childhood friend of Zylir, Orion, who listened to the whole conversation and said „these boys could be dangerous if they spread the word that there is magic". Zylir said „don't worry, I will keep an eye on them, it would be useless right now if we arrest them, just have a little patience" Orion said „you want them to find out more about magic and then gain magical powers what if they are captured with the magic and interrogated they will definitely have this power use it against you", „I already said don't worry, I'm the chosen one, no one else could achieve what I've achieved, i will catch them if they find out about magical powers"

Our two protagonists, Koman and Amon, are overwhelmed by their luxurious accommodation. They are grateful because they have never experienced such comfort before. After a day, they hear that the tournament is over and a foreign soldier has emerged victorious. This information piques their curiosity, but for now they decide to explore the city.

On their exploration tour, they go in search of maps and deeper knowledge about the city's dark side. Koman is desperate to learn more about the existence of magic that has been lingering in his head for so long. As they walk through the lively streets of Manzenier, the two discuss magic and the mysterious forces that may exist in the world.

Amon is skeptical, but believes that traces of these mystical powers might lie hidden in a city as extensive and ancient as Manzenier. Koman, on the other hand, motivated by what Teng had told him, is convinced that answers to his questions await somewhere in this city.

Zylir, who is always informed about what is going on in his city, quickly learns about their movements. He notices how skillfully and unerringly they look around the city, almost like spies who want to find out more about Manzenier than they are allowed to. He thinks this is another reason to monitor their actions more closely, because it could mean they know more than they let on.

Koman and Amon strolled through the busy market of Manzenier, surrounded by the colorful stalls where traders advertised their wares. Suddenly they heard of an older man talking about the ruins of an ancient temple that lay west of the city. Curious, they decided to follow up on the clue.

We should see if we can find the ruins," Koman suggested, looking at Amon with a determined look.

"I don't know if that's a good idea," Amon replied skeptically. "I don't think magic exists, it would be a waste of time"

"We're looking for answers, and the ruins could be the only chance to learn more about magic. Besides, we don't have anything better to do in Manzenier anyway, right?" Koman replied, convinced of his plan.

The two young men set off. The forest that stretched around the ruins was thick and haunted, and the sun's rays struggled to reach the ground. After some time, they discovered clues that led them further west. They were ancient symbols, engraved on trees and stones, pointing to a hidden path.

After a long hike, they finally reached the ruins. But what they found was disappointing: the once majestic structures had crumbled and been reclaimed by nature. Rotten stones lay scattered everywhere, and plants grew wild in the remains of the temple.

Just as they were exploring the ruins, a mysterious, wise man appeared from the shadows.

"What brings you here, young wanderers?" the man asked in a voice that sounded both friendly and skeptical.

Koman knew straight away that he had to be a magician, his outward clothing was anything but normal.

Koman stepped forward and explained his search for magic and the strength it grants. "I want to become stronger so I don't have to run away from my fears anymore," Koman confessed as Amon listened carefully.

Amon, on the other hand, hesitated. "I didn't really think about it. "I didn't think magic even existed," he confessed, not sure if he believed it himself.

The wise man looked at him for a while, then smiled. "It's good that you're on your way. Let me give you a little taste of the magic." With a wave of his hand, he caused a small ball of fire to light up, dance in the air, and finally dissipate into a sparkling shower of light.

Excited and surprised at the same time, Koman and Amon discussed many questions about magic, and the man explained the four types of magic that existed in their world.

Before the man continued speaking, Koman looked at Amon with a provocative look. „I told you there was magic", Amon was annoyed and „said how can someone believe magic exist's"

The magician continued to speak…
