My heart sank. "What does he want?"

 

"I don't know," Michael muttered, his voice full of frustration. He stared at the phone for a moment, as if debating whether to answer, before finally pressing the button to take the call. "Liam?"

 

There was a pause as Liam's voice crackled on the other end of the line. Michael's face darkened even more, and i could feel the tension radiating off him in waves.

 

"What the hell are you talking about?" Michael demanded, his voice hardening. "You can't be serious."

 

I watched, my heart pounding in my chest, as Michael's expression shifted from anger to shock, then to something bordering on panic. Whatever Liam was saying on the other end of the line, it wasn't good.

 

"When did this happen?" Michael asked, his voice strained. Another pause. "No, Liam, I can't fix this. You've gone too far."
