"I couldn't sleep," i replied, turning back to the window. "Too much on my mind."
Michael sighed and walked over to stand beside me. For a moment, neither of us spoke. The weight of everything hung in the air between us like a thick fog.
"Liam's in deeper than I thought," Michael finally admitted, his voice low. "He's made deals with people I wouldn't even want to cross paths with. He's in over his head, and he's dragging all of us down with him."
I bit my lip, the frustration bubbling up inside me. "And what are you planning to do? Bail him out again?"
Michael ran a hand through his hair, clearly conflicted. "I don't know. I can't just leave him to fend for himself. If I don't help him, there's no telling what will happen."
