A/N:
Hey folks! So, I've heard your feedback—some of you were feeling a bit sappotad slow. A big shoutout to Lord_Cynrik for suggesting I mix things up!
Now, I won't dive too deep into the fighters; we don't need a whole Wikipedia entry here. And, trust me, I've skipped over the easy opponents—no one wants to see a turtle race, right?
Get ready, because we're jumping straight into the quarter-finals of the 21st Work Tournament! Buckle up; it's going to be a wild ride!
---------------------
The 21st World Martial Arts Tournament had reached the quarterfinals, and the excitement in the air was palpable. Goku, Krillin, and Yamcha had fought their way through numerous warriors. But it wasn't just about brute strength—along the way, they had encountered several fighters who possessed new and innovative techniques, some of which Goku had quickly learned to mimic.
As Goku, Krillin, and Yamcha watched the remaining matches, they couldn't help but be impressed by the unique styles they saw. One fighter in particular caught their attention—a burly warrior battling a smelly monster. The audience held their noses as the stench filled the arena, but the warrior was unfazed. He raised his hands and created a barrier around the smelly monster, trapping it inside.
"Oh, that's cool!" Goku said, his eyes lighting up. "A barrier technique!"
Krillin nodded, impressed. "Yeah, but why did he use it just for that smelly thing?"
"Maybe it's the only way to survive without passing out," Yamcha joked, holding his nose. "That smell's a real knockout."
Goku watched closely, and within seconds, he had copied the barrier technique. He threw up a small barrier around himself just to test it out. But there was a problem—inside the barrier, visibility was terrible.
"Huh," Goku mused, scratching his head. "I can't see anything in here!"
Yamcha smirked. "Well, maybe it's better you don't see anything in that stink cloud."
Krillin laughed. "Goku, I think you're gonna have to tweak that technique a bit."
Goku nodded. "Yeah, but I'll figure it out. It could come in handy later."
The next match featured two fighters with completely different approaches: one from the Shapeshifting Academy and the other from the Bull Dojo. The shapeshifter was nimble and clever, using his IQ to his advantage. As he neared the edge of the ring, about to be knocked out, he quickly morphed into a small insect and zipped away, avoiding defeat by inches.
The fighter from the Bull Dojo, on the other hand, was all brute force. He charged like a raging bull, swinging his fists wildly, without any concern for strategy. His massive strength was undeniable, but his intelligence seemed... lacking.
"Wow, that Bull Dojo guy... I think his IQ is in the negatives," Yamcha remarked.
Krillin snorted. "Yeah, all muscle, no brains."
But Goku saw something valuable even in the Bull Dojo's reckless fighting style. The fighter's sheer physical strength was impressive, and Goku knew that while he might lack brains, there was potential in that technique to passively increase physical power.
"I think I could use that technique," Goku said, nodding thoughtfully.
Krillin raised an eyebrow. "You really wanna be a musclehead?"
Goku laughed. "No, but if I can find a way to use his strength without losing my brains, it could be helpful!"
As they continued to watch, the tournament bracket brought about some interesting matchups. First up was Krillin versus King Chappa. Krillin, who had been confident up until now, looked a bit nervous as he faced the seasoned warrior. King Chappa was calm and composed, his experience clear in his every movement.
The match began, and Krillin gave it his all, using his agility and speed to try to outmaneuver King Chappa. But the seasoned fighter was too skilled. After a fierce exchange of blows, King Chappa managed to land a decisive strike, sending Krillin tumbling out of the ring.
Krillin groaned as he hit the ground. "Ouch... guess I still have a lot to learn."
Goku patted him on the back. "You did great, Krillin! King Chappa's tough."
Next up was Yamcha versus Nam. This fight was a nail-biter from the start. Yamcha used every technique he had learned, but Nam's calm focus and discipline made him a formidable opponent. The two fighters exchanged blow after blow, neither giving an inch.
In the end, it came down to the final moments. Nam went for a powerful strike, but Yamcha dodged just in time and countered with a swift kick, knocking Nam out of the ring by the slimmest margin.
Yamcha collapsed to his knees, panting. "Man, that was close! I thought I was done for."
Krillin cheered. "Nice one, Yamcha!"
But the excitement wasn't over yet. The quarterfinals were about to reach their climax, as Goku's name was called for his match.
"Goku versus Master Roshi!" the announcer boomed over the speakers.
Goku grinned and bounced on his toes, eager for the challenge. He hadn't fought Roshi since his training, and he was curious to see how far he had come.
Master Roshi, who had been relaxing on the sidelines, stood up and stretched. "Well, looks like it's time for me to show you young folks a thing or two."
As they stepped into the ring, the crowd murmured in excitement. They all knew Roshi as the wise old martial arts master, but few had seen him fight in his prime.
Yamcha leaned over to Krillin and whispered, "You think Goku's got this?"
Krillin shrugged. "It's hard to say. Master Roshi's no pushover."
As Goku and Roshi faced each other in the ring, Goku bowed respectfully. "I've been looking forward to this, Master Roshi."
Roshi chuckled. "I won't go easy on you, Goku. I may be old, but I've still got a few tricks up my sleeve."
The match hadn't even started yet, but the tension in the air was already electric. The crowd was on the edge of their seats, and even the other fighters were watching intently.
"Alright," Roshi said with a sly grin. "Let's see what you've got."
Goku grinned back. "Here we go!"
And with that, the two fighters stepped into their stances.
