Chapter 7 - Worried

Anguis's PoV

After my lecture was over, I decided to go to the cafeteria as I was sure Selene would be there. I just want to have lunch with her. I don't know what it is, but something is pulling me towards her. On my way, I met Endius and Alex and we three made our way towards the cafeteria.

On reaching, I saw my little fox sitting with Diana, Alex's friend. I suppose they came together after their lecture. After getting our food, we made our way towards them. It won't be strange for us to sit with them, right? Whatever.

"Hello ladies! How are you all?" Said Alex in his cheerful voice. He was the most friendly person among us. It's good thing as thanks to it, Selene got Diana to company her during classes.

"Hi." Both of them responded simultaneously. By the looks of it, they seemed to be getting along.

Just then, Endius offered Selene a cup of coffee. Before she could deny, I declined him by saying, "Selene doesn't like coffee."

Boom. As if I had dropped a bomb, everyone except Alexander, were staring with a bewildered expression. Selene had choked on her food, tears running down her cheeks. I quickly offered her water and went towards her to pat her back.

It was too much for them to handle as next thing I heard was Charolette shouting from behind.

"What just happened here? Did I just missed something or am I mistaken? Please clear my misunderstanding!" When did she come? And why are they overreacting so much?

"Why are you all making such a big scene over this? And are you okay Selene?"

I asked Selene.

"Because I think you were supposed to hate each other and how do you know that she hates coffee? I don't think she ever mentioned that." Asked Endius. As much as I would hate to admit, his question does seemed logical.

"I had once told him when our families had breakfast together. I am surprised to know that you still remember that. Also, I am fine now. Thanks for your help." Replied Selene, all in one flow. Well what she told was half true. I got to know that she hates coffee at our breakfast date after our marriage, if I can call it a date.

"Oh!" Everyone seemed to have calmed down. Do we really seem so distant?

"By the way, I was thinking that we should welcome party tonight to celebrate our first day here. The freshers party organised by the institute is on this weekend. Let's not wait for it and have our own celebration tonight." Suggested Alex.

"Sure, I am ready for it." Said Selene. She seemed excited about it. If she going then even I am going.

"Even I am ready." I replied. After that, everyone agreed and we decided to meet at Alex's room, where we will be having our party.

We all made our way to our rooms to get ready.

"You are the one who wanted to keep it a secret then why would act like you know me really well huh? Why do you pretend that you care about me when you don't?" Selene shouted at me.

I was genuinely worried about her and here she is getting upset with me over it. I agree that I asked her to keep it a secret but that was because I wanted to make sure that she was not uncomfortable. If I knew that this was going to happen, I would have not suggested it.

"Why would you assume that I don't care about you? Also, you were literally choking on your food, do you think I would have sat there just like that? You are my wife, Selene! I couldn't leave you like that."

"But don't you hate me? Then why are you acting like you don't?" She was almost on the verge of crying.

"Why would I hate you? I like you, you stupid girl. Why won't you understand that?"

Okay I officially messed up. I just now confessed my love to her. Why can't I keep a control on this damn mouth? It's not my fault to be honest. It's all her fault. If she hadn't started this argument, I wouldn't have said anything like that.

"What?" She questioned. She seemed surprised by my sudden statement.

"I mean I would like to work on our relationship now that we are married." I answered without thinking much.

I had lost all my power to reason about anything. I don't about her but I was startled by the turn of events. I need time to process everything.

"Y-Yes I think we should work on it." She stuttered.

"Then why don't we discuss what we expect from this relationship but after the party?" I suggested. I didn't want to rush anything so I gave us some time to think about everything.

"Yeah sure." She mumbled.

And we both started getting ready in total silence.
