Chapter 35 - 35: Superpowers Discussion

In reality, An Rong had no idea what happened back then. All she remembered was kicking the desk, which had slammed into Ling Xue's back. After that, it felt like a thousand boulders were pressing down on her, crushing her body. She didn't recall anything else.

When she woke up, several days had passed.

Upon hearing Lin Jiajia mention that Ling Xue had special powers—superpowers—the first thing that came to An Rong's mind was that suffocating pressure.

"Hey, Lin Jiajia, is what you said true?" An Rong demanded, her tone dripping with arrogance.

Ning Shu rolled her eyes. "Believe what you want."

After that, she strolled into the club. The atmosphere was dazzling. The main hall was filled with the graceful sounds of violins, and the towering champagne fountain emitted a sweet, intoxicating aroma.

People gathered in small groups, chatting with wine glasses in hand, moving with an elegance that made them seem more like societal elites than high school students.

The moment Ning Shu entered, disdainful looks spread across the faces of those who noticed her clothes. They probably thought she was some kind of rabble-rouser.

Not bothered by their stares, Ning Shu found a sofa in the corner. She glanced at the fruit platter on the coffee table; the colorful fruits looked delicious. Picking one up, she took a bite—Aiyah, it was superb!

"Hey. Do you see anyone else eating here? Country bumpkin," An Rong said as she plopped down next to Ning Shu.

Ning Shu shot her a glance but returned to her fruit, ignoring her. An Rong nudged her, and Ning Shu turned to say, "What's your problem? Quit touching me; we're not close."

"Say, does Ling Xue really have superpowers?" An Rong asked, eyeing Ling Xue, who was wearing a stunning black evening gown that outshone everyone else in the room.

Ning Shu followed An Rong's gaze. There stood Ling Xue, radiating health and confidence. Everyone in the ballroom seemed captivated by her, their eyes filled with envy, jealousy, and admiration.

Of course, who else could it be but the svelte female lead? A woman like her, bursting with self-confidence and beauty, was bound to attract countless admirers. But with that came plenty of cannon fodder left in her wake.

"Ling Xue doesn't seem like someone with superpowers," An Rong said, but her injury made her wonder if there was truth to it.

Ning Shu rolled her eyes. "Who knows if Superman is Superman before he transforms? Can you really see a superpower?"

An Rong, frustrated but unable to refute, huffed, "Can't you speak nicely?"

Ning Shu just rolled her eyes again, not bothering to be polite.

At that moment, the entire ballroom fell silent, the elegant sound of the violin filling the air. The so-called "god of longevity," the idiot prince, strutted in, looking very cool.

Ning Shu disliked Leng Ao for many reasons, the biggest being her body's annoying reaction to him. Every time she saw him, this body seemed to yearn to throw itself into his arms, which was incredibly frustrating.

An Rong's face lit up with adoration and yearning as she saw Leng Ao, a blush coloring her pale cheeks.

Leng Ao approached Ling Xue with a gentlemanly demeanor, bowing slightly as he extended his hand, inviting her to dance. Ling Xue, with a hint of haughtiness, placed her hand in his, and they glided into a light, graceful dance.

Everyone in the room watched them, captivated by the scene.
