Chapter 39 - 39: More Shooting Practice

Ning Shu and Ling Xue stood in confrontation. After reloading her gun, Ning Shu aimed it once again at Ling Xue. Ling Xue's face was pale as she summoned the spiritual energy within her body to block the incoming bullets.

The spiritual energy in this world was so sparse that it was difficult to comprehend. At that moment, the energy Ling Xue had accumulated over a long period was completely depleted. Her dantian felt empty, and even her meridians were starting to ache.

It was truly a case of the tiger falling in the plains and being bullied by a dog. In the past, she could have dealt with such situations effortlessly; now, however, she was struggling. Moreover, she couldn't move at all. If she did, she would have to form a new shield, but she had no spiritual energy left to do so.

"You truly are seeking death," Ling Xue hissed through gritted teeth, her voice laced with an intense murderous aura.

Ning Shu pressed her lips together. She realized she had thoroughly enraged the female lead, but she didn't regret it. There was no way she would simply extend her neck when Ling Xue wanted to extract her soul. That soul was her everything.

Steadying the gun with both hands, Ning Shu squinted and noticed that Ling Xue's protective barrier seemed to weaken. Seizing the opportunity, she fired two more shots at it.

It felt almost like shooting at a stationary target, as Ling Xue stood there, allowing her to take aim.

"You shouldn't go too far!" Ling Xue shouted, on the verge of exploding. She had never found herself in such a desperate situation since arriving in this world, except when facing a certain man.

One by one, the bullets struck the ground until Ling Xue's protective barrier shattered, and a bullet grazed her collarbone. Seeing her chance, Ning Shu fired again, but Ling Xue deftly dodged.

Ling Xue glared at Ning Shu with hatred, her desire to kill her evident, but she realized that without her spiritual energy, she was just an ordinary person. She wasn't foolish enough to try to block the weapons of this world with her flesh.

Ning Shu didn't care about battle etiquette. The female lead was like a defanged tiger; if she didn't eliminate her now, it wouldn't make sense to wait until Ling Xue recovered.

Ning Shu wasn't one to act gentlemanly.

She fired at Ling Xue once more. Unfortunately, with her shooting skills still lacking, she missed. Clearly, she needed to practice more. This time, Ling Xue was unprepared and became an easy target. Next time they crossed paths, she knew Ling Xue would undoubtedly come for her.

Ling Xue glared at Ning Shu, then pressed on her injury and fled through the door. Ning Shu hurriedly pursued her, intent on securing the kill while the target was still weak.

No one understood better than her how ruthless the female lead could be.

Ning Shu wrapped her gun in some clothing and followed Ling Xue. Music still echoed through the party hall, and it was then that Ling Xue found herself cornered by Leng Ao. As Ling Xue glanced back at Ning Shu, who was closing in, she felt a surge of irritation towards Leng Ao, who was still trying to hold her back.

Ning Shu knew better than to shoot in front of so many witnesses. It would be too chaotic and might allow Ling Xue to escape. She noticed Leng Ao, looking incredibly cool as he tried to talk to Ling Xue. Despite the blood gushing from her injuries, Ling Xue's pale face made her look ghostly.

Ning Shu began to feel a sense of schadenfreude. Who asked you to get involved in love affairs? With that thought, she approached the two.

When Ling Xue saw that Ning Shu was almost upon them, she pushed Leng Ao away and sprinted toward the door. Stunned by the sudden shove, Leng Ao stumbled back, and Ning Shu took the opportunity to kick him aside and continue her pursuit.
