Chapter 25 - 25: Thank You for Yesterday

When the handsome school doctor woke up, his gaze was vacant and confused; he didn't remember where he was. As his memories returned, he immediately sat up on the sofa, which tugged at his injury and made him gasp in pain.

"You're awake!" a faint voice called out. The school doctor turned around to see a woman standing behind him, holding a bowl and shoving noodles into her mouth.

"Who are you?" he asked reflexively, reaching for the gun at his waist. He felt around and couldn't find it. In the process, he tugged at his wound again and felt a surge of pain.

Ning Shu swallowed the noodles in her mouth and blinked at him, her lips twitching. Was he here to perform a comedy routine?

"You took something of mine, didn't you?" the school doctor said darkly, but his stomach rumbled loudly.

"Oh, I remember you now. You're the girl who helped me get the weapon out yesterday. Hahahahaha…" The school doctor started laughing heartily. "Make me a bowl of noodles too."

Ning Shu made a sound of agreement but curled her lips disdainfully as she went to cook noodles for him. His vitality was impressive; he had lost so much blood and still woke up the next day.

Ning Shu placed the noodles in front of him and said in a negotiable tone, "Um, Uncle…"

"Do I look that old? At school, all the girls call me Big Brother." The school doctor lifted a bit of noodles and sampled them.

"The way I address you isn't important. You're severely injured; you should go to the hospital." Ning Shu didn't want such a dangerous person staying in her house.

The school doctor smacked his lips and said, "The taste isn't that great. Hey, what did you say? I didn't quite hear."

Ning Shu thought to herself, So shameless.

"Just focus on eating," she said, rolling her eyes.

"That's right. You took my thing, didn't you? Give it back to me. A little girl like you shouldn't be playing with something so dangerous," he insisted.

Seeing the school doctor's refined and elegant demeanor made Ning Shu want to roll her eyes. She hastily replied, "What thing? I didn't take anything of yours. Oh, you must be talking about the concealed weapon. I've put it away; I'll get it for you right now."

Ning Shu took a box from beneath the side table and handed the concealed weapon to the school doctor. The weapon was completely black, ring-shaped, and had sharp corners along its outer edge, emitting a faint glow.

The school doctor glanced at Ning Shu before examining the weapon. After putting it away, he extended his hand and looked at her again.

Ning Shu noticed his hand; his palm had a faint yellow hue and thick calluses that suggested long-term use in certain activities. These rough hands didn't match his attractive appearance at all.

Ning Shu extended her hand and shook his. "Hello, hello."

The school doctor flung her hand away and said, "What I want is the gun. Where did you put my gun, hm?"

Ning Shu looked at him with alarm. "You're going to kill me to silence me if I give it to you, aren't you?"

"Big Bro, consider that I saved your life," she said. "We children of the Jianghu repay kindness and take revenge straightforwardly. There's no hatred or grudges between us, so let's just forget this encounter and move on."

"What the hell are you rambling about? I can dispose of you even without the gun. Using it on you would be a waste of bullets. Hurry up and give me the weapon," the doctor said, annoyance creeping into his voice. He knitted his brows, giving off a very cold aura.

His attitude changed as quickly as flipping a page in a book. Ning Shu observed his frosty expression and went to retrieve the pistol. As she handed it to the school doctor, she made sure to clarify, "I just thought it was too dangerous to leave the gun with you. What if it accidentally went off? That's the only reason I put it away."

The school doctor took the gun and tucked it into his boot, ignoring her words. He stood up and said, "Thank you for yesterday. I'm leaving now."

Ning Shu watched him walk toward the door. He didn't seem injured at all. If she hadn't personally retrieved the weapon from his body yesterday, she wouldn't have believed he had been hurt.

As she opened the door, she smiled at the school doctor and said, "Uncle, take care. Please don't ever come back."
