Daniel's heart immediately skipped a beat and his mind went blank.
Kelsie moved her hand slightly and he subconsciously stumbled backward fearing she'd hit him.
Realizing that he was giving himself away by being silent, he cleared his throat noisily and scoffed slightly.
"W-what? I don't know what you're talking about. I don't even…"
He was still talking when Kelsie interrupted him with a cold snort.
"You don't even what? Know me? Are you just about to say you don't even know me?"
Daniel didn't dare to meet her eyes as he nodded shamelessly.
"O-of course. Do you have any idea who I am? I meet hundreds of people everyday. No, thousands."
"You don't think I'll remember a random person like you just because I met you once, do you?"
"Truth be told, the only reason I crossed over is because I found your kids adorable. So don't read meaning into this and make a big deal out of nothing."
Kelsie glanced at her children who stared up at Daniel cluelessly and sucked in her teeth.
This feeling…a part of her already figured out what was going on, but the more she stared at them, the more she felt she was missing something.
She glanced away from them and made them stand beside each other before cutting into their middle.
She held Zade and Keira while Jesse held Keira from the other end. Then without sparing Daniel another look, crossed the road with them.
Daniel remained standing for more than a minute before he crossed over again and sent a new message to the group chat.
"Should I empty out the amusement park? They are a lot of kids here. I don't think you'll be comfortable with so many of them around."
It took a full minute before the triplets viewed it.
Zade was the first to respond.
"We just managed to escape being grounded and you're about to make our evening even more suspicious?"
Followed shortly by Jesse who sent two long messages.
"Do you think my mother is an idiot? She may have been fooled by you a minute ago because she didn't think it was worth looking into it, but if you try this, she'll catch onto what is going on very quickly."
"And didn't you say your billionaire brother is coming? Won't he find it suspicious that the only people in the amusement park is a single mom and her kids?"
Seeing that her brothers had taken care of the situation, Keira sent the last message and immediately went offline.
"I'm going to go on the swing now. Let's make mommy and your brother sit beside each other. You have the means to make that, happen, don't you, Uncle Daniel? Our seat numbers are 23,24,25 and 26."
However, a confused Daniel immediately typed out a message in confusion.
"Movie? What movie?"
But Keira had logged off already and ran to the swing to play.
Then she moved to the merry-go-round where Zade ran to push her. They both took turns on it since none of the other kids riding it wanted was willing to make way for someone else.
As this was happening, Jesse stared at them with a bored look on his face.
Kelsie found somwhere near Zade and Keira to sit with him.
Jesse stared around the park for several second before he turned to look at his mother.
"Mommy, does it bother you that things like this don't interest me as much as they interest Keira and Zade?"
Kelsie turned to him to ruffle his head gently.
"There's nothing weird about it. These things don't interest me either. I'd rather be doing something else than to waste hours playing here."
Jesse hummed in satisfaction and reached for something behind his back.
"My thoughts exactly. Well, it's a good thing I brought my backpack."
Only then did Kelsie realize he had brought a backpack with him and realized she had been played.
She couldn't take her words back, so she could only give him a time limit.
After watching the kids play for more than twenty minutes, she turned to Jesse who was typing away on his laptop.
"Should I get us ice cream or popcorn?"
"We'll have popcorns during the movie. Ice cream will do now." The boy replied without glancing at her.
She got up on her feet and instructed him, "I'll be back in a few minutes. In the meantime, don't let your siblings out of your sight."
Jesse flashed her his right thumb before she turned and left.
A minute after she left, Keira got bored moved back to the swing.
However, a chubby boy of about 8 years suddenly came out of nowhere to take her spot but she remained adamant and refused to move.
"Why should I leave when I came here before you? If you wanted to ride it so badly, you should've come early!"
"Hey, the only reason you got here before me is because I had to come from across the park!"
"That still makes you late. You can either wait for me to finish using it or you can go use another play set."
"Why do you I have to do that? Come out!"
Keira refused to budge which infuriated the boy. Compared to him, Keira was about three inches shorter and lean.
So naturally, he was able to easily shove her off the swing.
Keira fell hard on the ground and screamed in pain when she scratched her palm against the rocks lying around.
Her painful scream sent Jesse and Zade sprinting toward the direction of her voice almost immediately.
Zade was the first to get to her. After helping her up and making sure she was alright, he stepped closer to the other boy and shoved him backward roughly.
"Do you want a beating? How dare you touch my sister!"
Seeing he was older and taller than Zade, the boy huffed in contempt and went ahead to provoke him.
"That's what she gets for not leaving when I asked her to. What can you do about it?"
The words had just rolled off his tongue when Jesse brushed past a fuming Zade and shoved the chubby boy forcefully to the ground, sending him falling to the pile of rocks behind him.
He then stood over him and huffed coldly, "There. That's what I can do. What can you do?"
