Chapter 27 - Chapter 27 Excuse Me, This Is A Private Elevator!

The elderly man gave him a look of disdain and snorted in irritation, "Punk, you scared me! I already have such a weak body, do you want to scare me to death!"

Then he huffed and turned away from Jett Adler.

Jett pressed his lips into a thin line and turned to the person behind him.

"What happened to him?"

Only then did the elderly couple see the young doctor who had rushed in with him.

The air condition in the ward was turned on, but cold sweat had broken out on the young doctor's forehead.

"Did you put a dumb doctor in charge of my grandfather?"

The doctor snapped out of his reverie when he heard Jett's impatient question and raised his eyes to see him pressing his phone against his ear, his thick brows furrowed into a stern frown.

He clutched his consultation notebook tightly before speaking up.

"I-so-I mean, please forgive me. Elderly Mr. Adler's Hypoglycemia affected him. We noticed he performed a physical activity for long. He blacked out for a few minutes because his sugar level dropped."

"Thanks to the CPR performed on him by someone who happened in be around when it happened and her advice to do a full body scan, we were able to see it wasn't something serious. Hence, there was no need to take him into the OR."

Jett slipped his hands into his pockets and stared at his grandfather tiredly.

"Where did you go? Didn't I tell you not to go anywhere without your driver?"

Jack Adler didn't bother to glance at him and continued chewing his apples a little too loudly while murmuring audible.

"Who does he think he's talking to like that? Tsk! An unmarried man at the big age of 30 talking to me like I'm some kind of kid. What a rude brat!"

"Don't you have work to do? Hurry up and leave my ward, you darn workaholic!"

Jett Adler, who rarely showed emotions, couldn't help cracking a faint tired smile.

He waved his hand at the doctor, ordering him to leave before finding his way to an empty seat.

But he had just bent his body downwards when Selene Arthur suddenly turned to glare hard at him.

"What are you doing? Didn't you hear your grandfather just now? You should leave now before I call the security downstairs."

He stared at his grandfather in disbelief before shifting his eyes to his grandmother.

He huffed in disbelief and proceeded to sit. Then crossed one leg atop the other and folded his arms across his chest before throwing his face to the side.

"You're both more petty than kids. How could you ask your worried grandson to leave simply because he's not married. Don't you know you're not supposed to discriminate against your grandchildren?"

Jack took a big bite out of his apple and retorted pettily, "Yeah, at least we have grandchildren to discriminate against at our old age of 60. At this rate, you'll turn 60 without a wife or child."

Selene peeled another apple and handed it to Jack before nodding in agreement.

"At this rate your grandfather and I will die without seeing our great-grandchildren."

Jett sat up and sneered, "What do you mean? Don't you have other grandchildren? Don't you at least have 5 great-grandchildren? Or were they even six?"

Jack slammed the palm holding the apple against the desk by his side and pointed a finger agitatedly at him.

"Hey, you unfilial punk! How dare you talk back to your grandfather and grandfather! is it too much to ask my heir to give me a grandchild? A daughter? A son? I don't even care which one. Just give me one!"

The words had just rolled off his tongue when Selene raised her eyes to chime in softly, "I would prefer a son though."

Jack glanced at her and shook his head slightly.

"We only have male great-grandchildrens. I want a granddaughter.."

Selene found sense in what he said and immediately looked up at Jett to change her request.

"You're right. Just give us two granddaughters or one at least then you can bury yourself in your work until the day you die, eh?"

However, Jett remained silent. He didn't even bother to spare them a glance.

Seeing this, Jack slammed his palm on the desk again and yelled at him in exasperation, "Get out of this room if you're not going to do as we say. Go be insolent somewhere else!"

Selene directly whipped out her phone to call the hospital security.

"Hello, security, there's a man here refusing to leave. I need you to come kick him…"

"Fine!" Jett suddenly spoke up in resignation. "I'll get married. But who do I marry?"

Jack Adler instantly flashed him a warm smile and casually waved him aside.

"Leave that to us. Just make out time for blind dates when we tell you."

Selene got off the phone and said dotingly, "Stay as long as you want, I'll call the nurse to bring us more apples and pineapple. Or would you prefer orange and grape?"

In a second, their attitude towards him changed 360 degrees.

The corners of Jett's lips twitched slightly.

These people and constantly cunning him.

Meanwhile, on the left wing of the 11th floor was a laboratory and inside it was Kelsie putting on a lab coat and a man who seemed to be in his 20s standing beside her.

For more than three minutes, none said anything.

Only the rustling sound of paper as she flipped through the pages of the file he had given her.

When she was done reading the report, her eyes fell slightly.

"It's not salvageable at all."

The man nodded in agreement.

"This project has been ongoing for the past six years, Kelsie. We've spent nothing less than a billion every year."

"I know this has great potential and could do the world a lot of good if we develop it, but is it really worth spending billions every year?"

Instead of responding, she merely stretched her palm towards him with a straight face.

"Can I get the batch produced this year?"

He nodded and reached for the brown envelope inside his lab coat pocket.

She took it carefully and looked into it then spoke up without looking at him.

"The production has become too complex. Isn't it? I'll start working on it with you starting tomorrow. And I'll continue funding the research as long as you're willing to be in it."

The man sighed softly and closed the distance between them, putting him in an intimate position with her.

"I have no reason not to want to continue this research. I'm just looking out for you. You're this project's second sponsor and it's been five years since we last made any progress."

"The other sponsor is very wealthy and can afford to fund us for as long as possible, but I fear it's too much for you. Even if you stop finding the research, I'll make sure to get you a batch every three months."

"Thank you for dedicating six years of your life to this, Callum. I look forward to us working together starting tomorrow."

Callum Shaw stared at her longily as she went around him before disappearing into a corner.

Jett Adler had just walked out into the corridor for a smoke when he saw the two talking.

Given the intimate position they were in and the wedding ring on his finger, he quickly concluded this was her husband.

She had been trying to get his attention for the past few days while she was married all these while?

He lowered his eyes to the floor and snorted irritatedly, and the urge to smoke instantly disappeared, but his disdain towards her grew even more.

When Kelsie got to the apartment building that afternoon, she felt her phone buzz in her pocket and slipped it out to answer the call from Jesse.

"M-mommy, are you on your way back? Keira can't see." Although his voice sounded firm, Jesse couldn't hide the fear in his tone.

"Give mommy three minutes. I'm on my way up." Kelsie said reassuringly softly.

But because she had to pause to answer the call, others waiting to get into the elevator in front of her hurriedly got inside.

By the time she rushed to the other two, they were all suddenly filled up.

She glanced around worriedly before seeing a familiar person walking towards the elevator at the corner of the building.

Without thinking twice, she rushed towards it.

Eric Lance suddenly felt himself being shoved out of the way as someone overtook him to get into the open elevator.

"Excuse me, this is a private elevator!" He yelled and rushed towards her, but it was too late as the elevator closed with the man and woman inside.
