One night, Ye Hai returned home and, unwilling to waste the 10 points of scientific value, decided not to sleep right away. Instead, he delved into biological sciences, reviewing issues of the scientific magazine "Life Sciences" from the past few years.
Following that, he turned to professional textbooks, flipping through the pages at a remarkable speed—finishing a book in just a few minutes while genuinely grasping its essence, even surpassing the authors' understanding. This superhuman sensation was addictive, prompting him to continue reading until dawn, when the 24-hour brain domain activation period concluded.
In an instant, his vision returned to normal. His mind dulled, creating a discomfort that made him yearn to activate the brain domain once more. The system then reminded him: "Host, please note that you have utilized the 24 hours of brain domain activation. Your brain is now fatigued from excessive use. You can spend 10 points of scientific value to alleviate this fatigue or get a good night's sleep."
Feeling extremely tired, Ye Hai craved a rest. Remembering that Dr. Connor had told him to take the day off for some recovery, he said, "No need to spend 10 points of scientific value; that's too precious. I don't want to waste it." With that, he lay down on the bed, closed his eyes, and soon drifted off to sleep.
The next day, he awoke ravenously hungry, feeling a void in his stomach. He quickly grabbed his phone to check the time: 6 AM. Fortunately, there was plenty of time, and he didn't have to worry about being late.
After a quick wash-up, Ye Hai took his materials and headed to work. Upon arriving at Oscorp Industrial Building, he had breakfast in the cafeteria before beginning his workday.
That day, Dr. Connor brought him good news: they had conducted a living experiment the day before, and a small white mouse that had lost its right limb had successfully regenerated it; now it could use its leg with agility. This news was exhilarating, and even Dr. Lada, the head of the lab, was present.
Dr. Lada was a middle-aged man of Indian descent, with a somewhat serious demeanor. He looked at Ye Hai with a slight smile and said, "I heard from Dr. Connor that you've improved the transformation rate equation, which has been troubling us. You're quite impressive, young man! Great job!"
With that, he burst into applause, followed by the studio colleagues. Gwen clapped enthusiastically among the crowd, looking at Ye Hai with admiration, seemingly unaware of the strain in her hands.
Next to her stood a tall, handsome boy who curiously glanced at Ye Hai and asked, "Who is he? I don't think I've seen him before."
"He's Ye Hai; he just started the day before yesterday!" Gwen replied with a smile.
"What? What did you say?" The boy's eyes widened. "You mean he just started two days ago? But I heard Dr. Connor say he solved the transformation rate equation."
"That's right, Peter! He just arrived the day before yesterday, and he perfected the transformation rate equation in just one day, surpassing what we have accomplished in over ten years. Isn't he incredible?" Gwen exclaimed.
Seeing the brilliance in Gwen's eyes brought Peter a bittersweet feeling as he reluctantly said, "Yes, he's amazing!"
After exchanging a few cheerful words with Dr. Lada, Ye Hai walked over and asked, "Gwen, who is this gentleman?"
"This is Peter Parker, a classmate of mine. He is currently also Dr. Connor's assistant," Gwen introduced.
Ye Hai scrutinized him closely, all but concluding that this Peter must have turned into Spider-Man. An urge arose within him; he longed for such abilities. Dr. Connors' transformation into the Lizard hardly compared; Spider-Man was a true superhero.
"Ding! Mission triggered: Research Spider-Man's mutation genes, which can perfectly integrate with the human body. The mission duration is one month. Successful completion rewards 10,000 scientific points; failure deducts 1,000 scientific points!"
Ye Hai promptly extended his hand and smiled warmly, "Hello, I'm Ye Hai. Just call me Ye."
Peter was taken aback by Ye Hai's friendliness and quickly grasped his hand, saying, "Hello, hello…"
Ye Hai chuckled, "You're also a young man. I like young people, as we share a common language. Peter, would you be interested in becoming my assistant?"
Thanks to Ye Hai's remarkable contributions, Dr. Lada had already appointed him as a scientist at Oscorp, working alongside Dr. Connor in cross-species genetics. Thus, he was no longer just Connor's assistant, but their roles had leveled up, prompting him to recruit some assistants.
Peter hesitated a bit, but Gwen eagerly piped up, "Ye, can I be your assistant?"
"It would be a pleasure to work with a beautiful lady like you, Gwen. I wholeheartedly welcome you to my team," Ye Hai said, his heart stirring as he gazed at Gwen's beautiful face.
"I'm not just a pretty face," Gwen said with a slight frown, feeling pressured by Ye Hai's intelligence yet determined not to be underestimated.
"Of course, Gwen. You are both beautiful and talented—a woman of great merit," Ye Hai complimented her before turning to Peter, "So, Peter, have you made up your mind?"
"It would be my honor, sir!"
With his dream girl joining Ye Hai's team, Peter felt compelled to follow.
