Chapter 10 - The Raven Calls. CH.10

Barnabas lays down on his knees, as he witnesses the home he had been living in for a few years, burn right Infront of him, the flames burning in the reflection of his already watery eye.

"Barnabas!"

Shouts Carl.

"I'm so happy your safe.."

Says Carl, still wiping off his tears.

As they all re-group, Barnabas is in utter horror as he sees Lucy lying down, dead.

Tears burst out of his eyes, as he hugs Lucy, who is still lying on Ayase's lap, his screams of terror could shake the entire world, as one by one, they all huddle with Lucy, taking in there final moments with the cheerful, arrogant, yet kind Lucy, who they had know for almost there entire lives.

As they hug, a voice comes from above, and while the others continue to hug Lucy, Ayase looks up, in horror.

As the feint words that lay above her were the same muffeld words that she had heard the day she awakened.

And, yet again, the crow with the same sharp red eyes looked down bellow at Ayase, almost like it was peering into her souls, before flying out of frame yet again, leaving Ayase to yet again wonder what the mysterious, haunting crow was trying to tell her.

Carl looks up at Ayase, wondering why she is blankly staring up at the sky.

"What is it, Ayase?"

Asks Carl, confused on what Ayase is doing.

"You didn't hear it?"

She says, still staring into the sky.

"Hear what?"

She looks down at Carl in utter horror, leaving Carl petrified from Ayase's sudden change in look.

Ayase looks back down at Lucy, as if it had never happened.

"Nevermind, it was nothing."

Carl decides to ignore it for now, before looking back down at Lucy.

Two minutes go by, and as they one by one let go of Lucy, there final tears drop, before heading towards the burning safe house.

As Ayase says behind with Lucy, the rest of the family go towards the once beautifullly torn down safe house, which is now burning to a crisp Infront of them.

"It's taking too long.."

Says Barnabas.

"W-where are they?"

Panick begins, as, from one terror, to another, they are swiftly reminded that hell isnt over just yet, as they peer into the entrance of the burning safe house, hoping to see shadows emerge from beneath it.

As all hope seems lost, and as one by one they begin to walk back to Lucy, not wanting to bare the bad news, all of a sudden, screaming is heard from inside the safe house.

As everyone rapidly twists there bodies around, they seem there final hope.

There Craig was, running out of the burning safe house, with Teddy, and teddy both on his back, as he screams, not one of fear, but one of victory, his screams sound like a lion, as he takes one last leap out of the crumbling Safe house, which was crashing right behind him, crash, crash, crash.

As the safe house breaths for one last time, before crumbling to bits, there stands Craig, with his fist in the air, and Teddy behind him, holding his hands up too, with one holding his teddy, as his eyes seem to be lighting up, wider than they have ever been.

Craig, who is still tightly holding onto Teddy, has burns and various scars all across his body, as all of a sudden, he drops teddy, and his muscular, lion-like body sudden frails down into a more skinnier weak form, before falling into Levi, who was still standing there, in hope.

"Thank goodness, you took your precious time."

Says Levi, with a slight look of relief on his face, before hoisting up Craig, stopping him from falling.

As Teddy begins to rant about how call Craig was, his eye begins to widen, and almost sparkle, which is the complete opposite of what they are usually like (tiered, and half asleep).

"He was so cool!"

"He managed to fight of this really tall, scary looking shadow thingy, it was sick!"

Says Teddy, who has never shown so much emotion before, even while his left eye was bleeding, and completely torn.

"Damn right, you tell 'em Teddy, that thing stood no chance against me!"

Says Craig, clearly proud of how he fought.

"That's really heroic, Craig, and while I'd like to know more of this weird creature, we have some.. sad news.."

Says Carl, before stepping to the right, revealing Lucy, who is still lying on Ayase's lap.

The smile suddenly fades from Craig's mouth, as the sudden shock from the battle he just had, to the shock of Lucy's death almost makes him feint, as he turns pale and paler, he struggles to believe that this is really true..

As Teddy and Craig both mourn Lucy's death, along with the others, as they bury her outside the safe house, knowing that as long as she's here, with there leader, she'll be safe for the rest of her eternity.

"It's time we leave.."

Says Carl, before looking back at the safe house and Lucy's grave, one last time, as the sun begins to set, and dawn arrives, as he assists Craig, who is heavily injured from his previous fight.

"Yes, of course.."

Says Sylvia, before walking off with Craig, Carl and Teddy into the forest.

While Ayase is saying her final goodbyes to the safe house and Lucy, she notices Levi holding some sort of jar in his hand.

"What's that, levi?"

She asks, curiously.

Levi quickly pushes it back into the rubble of the now completely burnt down safe house.

"Oh, nothing."

He says, before walking away with Ayase.

"You know, I think those flames inside the safe house were sentient, they just felt like they were trying to grab me, or something, you know?"

Says Ayase, as they slowly walk away from the safe house, as Levi silently nods along to her rambling, happy she is now her usual self.

But, as they all walk off into the forest, the jar that Levi had thrown away in a hurry, begins to light up, as a fiery hand comes crawling out of it, as an eary sound comes screeching from the safe house...
