The swamp which stood before Barnabas and Craig was nearly completely silent, as the only thing they could hear were the swishing of the swamps dirty mud ponds, and various vines swinging left to right from the subtle blows of wind.
"What is this place?"
Says Barnabas, taking in this new bizzare environment, as vines seemed to tangle between every large tree in there perimeter.
"Not sure, but it sure is dirty.."
Says Craig, also taking in the huge scenery of massive, heavy vines that wrapped around every corner.
As they march through the thick, muddy waters of the swamp, they stop to peer, and investigate the intangled vines.
"What are these things?"
"They seem to spread on forever.."
Says Craig, before touching the wet, damp vine Infront of him, before pulling out a knife that Carl had given him, and chopping part of it off.
"What are you going to do with it?"
Asks Barnabas, pointing towards the now small but if vine, which is laying on Craig's hand.
"Eat it."
Craig says, before chomping on the bit of vine.
"Woah!"
"This actually tastes pretty good!"
Says Carl, before handing a piece to Barnabas, who eats it in a hurry, wanting to know if it's as good as he says.
"Oh woah!"
"This is so good!"
Says Barnabas, as his eyes seem to sparkle as he takes one more chomp out of the mysteriously good tasting vine.
"While it may be a really muddy, and quite frankly unhealthy place, it has plenty of water and food!"
Says Barnabas, who excitedly reaches towards his necklace, in hopes to find his way back to the cave, where the rest of his family 'should' be waiting.
"Wait!"
Shouts Craig, before grabbing Barnabas' wrist.
"Remember what Carl said?"
"We have to scan the entire area first, to make sure that it's actually a safe place to live."
"The only time we should use the cross if we are in danger and need to find our way back."
"We don't want our family thinking we are in danger, do we?"
Says Craig.
"Right, right, you're right."
Says Barnabas, before heading further north with Craig in hopes of securing this new place as there home.
As Barnabas and Craig both venture out into the further unknown, as they begin to tread further through the twisted maze of the swamp, the vine that they had cut off and ate before, had mysteriously been covered back up by more thick vines..
As Barnabas and Craig both search endlessly through the huge swamp, they begin to notice the air getting thicker, and as trees seem to grow larger and larger, so do the vines, as they seem to wrap around the entire swamp now.
As heavy fog/mist begins to rise, they begin to ponder if they should turn back.
"Man, I can barely see anything, maybe we should turn back, I mean we don't have to explore everything right?"
Says Barnabas, who is starting to get creeped out by the sudden arrival of the thick fog.
"True, true.."
Says Craig, who also seems to be getting slightly creeped out by the swamp's Hidden Mist.
But as they both decide to turn back around..
Wislte, whistle, whistle.
Whistling can be heard coming from the mysterious mist, and as both Craig and Barnabas turn around, with both of there faces trembling in horror, scared of the unknown, they both look at eachother, petrified of what the whistling noise could be..
But as they stare into the unwelcoming fog, a sudden figure appears from the dark.
"What is that?"
Asks Barnabas, wondering if Craig could see it.
"Not sure, but I think it's another human.."
He says, before he clenches his eyes.
"Oh wait!"
"IT IS A HUMAN!"
Shouts Craig, who is excited to see another human for once.
"Oh yeah!"
"But what's that thing he's riding?"
Asks Barnabas, suspicious of the oncoming human.
As there minds boggle, and as cogs turn in there brain, all off a sudden, the swamps heavy fog and damp, green mist begins to unfold, as an old, crooked man, with loose teeth and hair growing out of every inch of his body seems to appear out of this fog and mist, riding a boat, while whistling loudly.
Barnabas and Craig both stare back at eachother..
Before nodding at one another, knowing that venturing further into the swamp was worth it.
But something tells me this isn't the only suprise that is going to happen..
In the swamp's Hidden Mist.
