Ever since that day, Yurie would isolate herself from others, except for her only two friends whom she knew would be there for her until death separates them. Please take care of her, Asuka and Toki.
"I'm hungry."
..
…what?
This is rare.
Yurie asking someone to give her food? That's once in a blue moon. I have to treasure this moment.
"Okay. Just wait for me here. I'll grab you some tea and cookies. I'll be here in about thirty minutes."
"I prefer chocolate chip cookies, thank you."
"Got it."
Yurie is a patient child. Waiting is just a piece of cake for her. But, her longest waiting time recorded is seventy minutes, which is equivalent to an hour and ten minutes, so thirty minutes would just be a grain of sand for her, right? I'm sure it would.
I immediately searched for the cookbook master gave me, but I couldn't seem to find it anywhere.
Wait.
Nobody else rather than that rat Chihiro would steal my stuff. I have to go up to his room real quick.
I went up to his room, and to my surprise, he was already holding the cookbook. Right.. I forgot he has good hearing.
"Looking for this, Kyoko?" He said in a smug tone. Damn, I hate this rat sometimes..
"Indeed I am, Sangata. Now, hand me the cookbook so I can prepare cookies for my beloved Yurie."
I snatched the book from his grasp, and stormed out of the room, clearly pissed off by his doings.
I was too lazy to go down to the basement, so I used the first floor's kitchen.
"Ingredients.. Tools… Complete."
I then started baking cookies for Yurie, while simultaneously preparing tea.
Once done, I put the products on a tray and teleported to the basement, where I found Yurie sitting down peacefully on the edge of the middle bed.
"Here's your food."
"Thank you, miss…"
"Please, just call me Kanae."
"Thank you, miss Kanae.."
I just realized that I forgot to introduce myself to her. It's not too late to do so, right? Plus, this is essential for me to gain her trust.
"My name's Kanae Kyoko, by the way. Just call me Kanae, or you can choose to come up with a nickname."
"Alright, Kanae.. Wait! Can I call you Miss Kana? It sounds cool!"
"You can and may."
Kana is indeed a cool name. I actually like it… I should use it for my social media accounts.
"Miss Kana?"
I was snapped out of my thoughts as I heard her weak voice call out to me.
"What is it?"
"You told me you'd teach me how to save the world… How?"
"Ah, here. We will save these four people, not at the same time, though. But before that, you have to drink this enchanted substance. It's not poison. I drank this before."
"It's not.. Poison? What does it do then?"
"It gives you special abilities to interrogate our enemies. When you use the skill [Examination], they will be given a monitor showing the questions you want to ask them and what's necessary to ask."
"How about the second one?"
"The second one is called [Persuasion]. If you use this skill, the enemy will be brainwashed into saying the truth if caught lying. You don't need to use this skill if my master's around, though."
"…is that all of my abilities?"
"Unfortunately for you, yes."
"It's fortunate. I don't want to be too overpowered."
After that sentence, Yurie chugged the substance down her throat and was curious of who were the people we were gonna save.
"Who are the people we'll save, by the way?"
