"In case you forgot where Kent's apartment is located, it's at the 7th floor, and just look for room 720."
"Noted, Miss Kana. But, what are you gonna do in this mission, then?"
Oh yeah. She's right. I haven't thought of my part yet in this mission. There's a lot of options I can choose from, but they're all boring (for an extraordinary 'mortal' like me).
[Identity]. That's my favorite skill. I'll use it for now, since I don't want Yurie to carry a burden today.
"I'll confuse them by switching identities. Do you want me to cosplay as your father, or that would give you depressing flashbacks?"
I expected Yurie to give me a petrified reaction, but instead, she bursted out into giggles. Why? I mentioned her deceased father who probably gave her lifelong trauma. Her reactions confuse me sometimes.
"That would be funny, Miss Kana! They would submit to you easily!"
That smile of hers.. It's been a long time since I've seen her smile like that. It's such a mesmerizing sight to see.
She was right, though. The enemies would fear us since Akito Tanaka was a powerful person in the country. He wasn't just a mayor. He was once the president.
"Okay, then. I'll transform into your father for a while. Don't be mad at me if I give you the worst flashbacks you've seen, you're the one who said yes."
I used the bracelet to give me a soul orb that could make me obtain the skill [Identity], and transformed into Yurie's beloved father, Akito Tanaka.
In this form I took, it had the clothes he wore the day he died,
Fluffy bitter black hair, silver ear piercings, a white long-sleeved polo shirt with a red tie, grayish-black trousers embraced by a jet-black belt, a wristwatch on his left wrist, and aurora black leather boots. The look of anyone's ideal man.
"Yurie, is this okay for you?"
"It's perfect! You look and act exactly like my dad! It's like he's actually still alive.."
Huh?
Act exactly like Akito Tanaka?
Did I hear that right? Acting exactly like THE Akito Tanaka? That's the biggest compliment I've ever received! Ehe, this girl sure knows how to make me blush.
As me and Yurie headed towards the apartment of Kent Wallace, there was already an ally of Neroko's trying to stop us, but as soon as they saw who I was impersonating, they immediately bowed down to me, thinking I'm actually the real Akito Tanaka.
"I'm sorry for blocking your path, Mr. Tanaka! I apologize sincerely to you and your daughter, I wouldn't have done that if I knew it was you sooner!"
What a fool. This skill is awesome! I can toy with people's brains, making them turn into my slaves!
I pulled out a pistol from the pocket in my trousers, and loaded it with ammunition. Then, I pointed the gun to the ally's head.
"Based on my point of view, I can confirm you have two eyes to see who you were trying to restrain, isn't that right? You are just trying to make excuses to not get killed, but, you fool, they won't work on me. I have heard enough from you citizens, so say your last goodbyes."
"I'm sorry, sir! I just didn't think before acting..! I thought you were already dea-"
Before the fool could speak any further, I pulled the trigger, the pistol releasing a bullet, then killing the ally. It's been a long time since I've murdered someone with my own hands.
"Miss Kana.. Did you just..?"
Oh no, I forgot that Yurie is still here. I mean.. She's probably used to it, right? From the tragedy, I mean.
"Sorry, I forgot you were there. You have to get used to it, though. We will kill a lot of people today, alright? Don't worry, I'll teach you how to use a gun."
"That would be great, Miss Kana."
Yurie gave me grin that says "I'm a savage!", and she added to her statement:
"Let's get going, Miss Kana! We don't want those pesky fools to wait for the dynamic duo."
That's the spirit! She suddenly became gleeful, huh? I wonder what happened.
Yurie and I walked towards Room 720, where Kent Wallace was held hostage. Upon seeing the door in front of us, I hesitated no more, and gave it three knocks.
"Hello? It's Akito Tanaka here. I have to interrogate the citizen, Neroko Quinn."
Nobody would answer, so I held the crowbar above my head, and smashed the door open.
There was wood flying everywhere, the doorknob falling to the ground, Kent's coats scattering on the floor of his apartment, and some screws falling on my feet.
"Well, well, well. Look at what we have here! Mr. President and his lovely daughter! Mind if we take her?" One of Neroko's allies asked.
"You may not lay a hand on my daughter."
Before I could protect Yurie, the ally used a rope to grab her.
