Chapter 9 - - New Prologue III

Yurie cackled like a witch ready to curse a human at my comment. But before I could laugh with her, she collapsed on the wooden floor of the apartment.

Because I didn't want to stress her out when she wakes up, I teleported the both of us back to The Room so she can get a proper nap.

I left her alone, sleeping on the middle bed, while I went over to my desk to accomplish my daily journaling. Wait, I forgot to return to my original form.

After throwing out the [Identity] skill, I quickly returned to my activities, but another thing interrupted me once more; A voice that sounded like a boy going through puberty.

"[***]. You should've kept Neroko alive."

That voice.. Was none other than the one who judges the living and the deceased.

"Just do your judgement thing. You can revive them if you think they're worthy of living, remember? I'm not dumb."

Before the voice could reply, Yurie woke up from her slumber and decided to interrupt my conversation with the mysterious voice.

"Miss Kana.. Who are you talking to..?"

Ah, I haven't introduced her to this boy yet, but I should just tell her soon. She can't know this man's

"You'll find out soon."

Yurie pouted, then her cheeks started to have a slight red tint. Did she find the rascal's voice hot? I really hope she didn't, because she wouldn't survive just staring at the rat's face.

Then, I remembered that Yurie probably felt lonely in her house. Her aunt works every day except Sunday from 6AM until 1AM, her uncle works abroad, and her cousin is busy with his college life. Nobody would be able to visit her. "Her friends!" You may ask, but they could only visit once in a blue moon. Asuka has strict parents, and Toki is a working student. Maybe it wouldn't be bad if I 'adopted' Yurie? Would she say yes?

"Yurie, I have a question. Since you probably feel lonely in your house, I'd like to invite you to come live with me and my master."

I expected her to decline, as she's more of a solitary person, but her answer mortified me. Is this even Yurie?

"I'll just get my stuff from the house, is that alright, Miss Kana?"

"Are you sure you can walk by yourself? It's getting dark. You wouldn't want any kidnappers to take you."

"Miss Kana, I'll be fine. Please rest. Prepare for what's to come in the future."

[ "Dad, I'll be fine. Please rest. You have a long day ahead of you tomorrow."

"Thanks for worrying about me, Rie. You're the only person motivating me to continue living." ]

I left Yurie alone in The Room and prepared to rescue the 2nd teenager. He usually stays in the city library to read his favorite novels or encyclopedias.

The second teenager is a student who aces every subject he has despite being in college. Solving equations, writing essays, memorizing and reciting pledges, and differentiating two substances are the things he's good at, but his weakness is physical activity.

He would spend hours in his room studying and reading books, but never going outside to play sports. Despite the stress he's going through, he still manages to keep his body healthy.
