"You said you were going to explain why the princess called you her cousin."
Reniris sat on her bed and crossed her legs and Eon couldn't help but appreciate her impeccable thighs for a moment before sitting up, he was about to speak but he paused as he appreciated her figure again, the wet hair was quite something.
"Yeah, I did, so get comfortable, what I'm about to say might sound a bit crazy"
He warned, he saw no reason to hide the fact he was from another world, keeping the information did nothing for him and besides if he wished to be with her in the future, the least he can do is respect her enough to be honest, he may not have had much experience in his past life but people always said communication is key.
"OK, I doubt you're going to reveal anything crazier than what you already know about me"
With those words said, he divulged his full past, his life on Earth, a world without magic, how he lived and died there and how he came to possess this current body of his and Reniris listened attentively, nodding along without interrupting or cutting him off, and when he was done, she took a breath and spoke.
"I have, several questions"
She announced, although a few of them have practically been answered, specifically the ones regarding his family. He technically had a family but that's the family of the body he currently was inhabiting.
"Figures, go ahead"
"Why didn't you pretend to be the prince, wouldn't it be better to do so?"
"I would have, however like I said I got his memories and his family practically views him as an animal, his siblings used to just beat him simply because he said no to them or looked at them funny, so to pretend to be the prince was a no go, plus he's dead why live the life of someone else?"
She nodded at his explanation, although she found herself not liking the idea of having a family and just running away from it but she chose to not vocalise her thoughts.
"That makes sense, but what are you going to tell the princess?"
"The same thing I told you, there's no reason to lie to her about this, plus it's easier if she doesn't associate me with her dead cousin."
He shrugged as he explained, and Reniris agreed with him. after all those questions were asked she began to ask him about his old world
She was curious about what kind of world it was, how it worked and the technology that existed and Eon answered the questions he was able to answer and did his best to explain the more complicated ones. even telling her about the different languages that existed there.
Which was something that Reniris seemed to take keen interest in and something that made him wonder which language he was currently speaking and how he was speaking it.
Seeing the look of intrigue on her as he told her about the many things about earth brought him a sense of satisfaction, and told her everything he could remember, and she simply piled up questions the more he told.
β¦.
[The next day]
"I see"
Reniella responded with slight dejection in her voice, she certainly didn't expect such news first thing in the morning.
"That's it? I see? aren't you curious or at least sad your family member is dead"
Reniris spoke, more shocked by the Princess's lack of emotion after hearing what Eon had to say.
"What do you want me to say?"
She asked with a shrug of her shoulders and a sigh
"He was your family he deserves a little more than just an 'oh, I see'"
Reniris countered and the Princess felt that the woman before her was a little too invested in this than she should be.
"Nathaniel and I weren't really that close plus he never talked much, even when I tried to start a conversation he was always pretty tight lipped, although I am sad about the fact I lost a family member but that's the extent of it."
She explained, although she will admit that she didn't know how he was being treated by his family, thinking back a bit Nathaniel did always have this vacant look on his face, like his mind wasn't there
Unfortunately as much as she'd like to be close to all her family members, the Dreyer and Hendrix family haven't been on good terms for a while now.
"Well you certainly don't look sad, that someone in your family died"
She said a bit dismissively, Eon wondered if Reniris' reaction had anything to do with the fact she knows she has a family name but doesn't actually remember anything about said family and because of that she has a weird attachment to the idea of a family.
"What about the other stuff, he's an otherworlder, aren't you at least a bit curious about that or have some questions?"
She asked, deciding to move on from the conversation.
"Not really plus, He isn't the first otherworlder I've heard off"
She explained as she sipped some tea that her servant had made before vacating the room.
"There were others?!!"
Eon was the one who spoke in surprise as he leaned forward in his chair.
"In the Hendrix kingdom, there are two documented otherworlders, although one of them is dubious and probably not true"
"Who are they?"
A smirk appeared on her face as she heard such a question.
"Well the first one died about 1000 years ago when the Era of the Gods was still going strong, his name is Arthur and he's the one that founded both the Dreyer kingdom and the Hendrix kingdom"
She said with no small amount of pride in her voice, while also anticipating the inevitable question that's coming.
"Although it's worth noting the he didn't create both kingdoms separately but instead both were part of the kingdom he created"
she clarified.
"Was he powerful?!"
"Of course he was, the history books say he stood against a horde of a 100 thousand demons by himself, with only his sword and its sheath, in fact the gods were so impressed by such a feat they blessed his sword giving him enough power to stand against the likes of the demon king and his generals."
She rambled on with an inflated pride about the escapades of the great Hero king Arthur, a legend within this world's history and Eon couldn't help but listen with interest, if an otherworlder could do much then this world was his oyster and he'll enjoy this world thoroughly.
"After the gods blessed his sword, it was dubbed, the blade of the rising sun, humanity's dawn or Dawn for short and with it he became the pinnacle of human strength, he even rallied together Dwarves and elves to fight against the demons. He was amazing, its my dream one day to wield Dawn and decimate the current demon king and his army"
She continued, however her tale of the legendary figure was interrupted by Reniris, who recognized that this might take a bit too long.
"You said there was another otherworlder?"
"Oh I did, well the other one is a weird case as he did not accomplish much and his claims about being an otherworlder aren't really believed, he wasn't that powerful either, although there are claims of him having slane a dragon but there's not much evidence to support that and no historian takes that to be true"
She explained and Eon couldn't help but feel bad for the other guy, if he really was an otherworlder then he came to this world for nothing.
He also wondered if this was the reason no one seemed to care about the clothes he and Reniris were wearing, not one person has made a comment on their clearly out of place clothes.
"Why?"
"Well since writings about this otherworlder appear in the time after the death of the Hero king Arthur, by that time dragons had been banished to the floating islands and the dragon queen never allowed them to come anywhere near the surface"
She elaborated and Eon couldn't help but have his interest peaked. This seemingly was going to be as much fun as he anticipated, fighting a dragon was on his bucket list.
"Wait I read about that, is the dragon queen, Queen Belle Rion the godslayer, the one who betrayed and killed her best friend goddess of Light and summer He'ina"
Reniris stated as she recalled the short fairy tale about the dragon queen. Although in the story the dragon queen is the villain.
"The very same, aside from The hero king Arthur, most historians don't consider any claims of there being another otherworlder to be true, most of them believe it was the gods that allowed for an otherworlder and after King Arthur's time they have never once intervened in the world and if you were to tell a historian you're an otherworlder they'd probably laugh at you."
She explained and Eon nodded in understanding, although he didn't plan to let it be known he was an otherworlder, but he does plan to meet this dragon queen in the future.
"That makes sense I suppose"
Eon leaned back on his chair before taking a glance at Reniris who seemed to be thinking about something and then spoke.
"What about devils, ever heard of them?"
He asked the princess and she hummed as she thought, his question elicited a brow raise from Reniris.
"I have heard the word mentioned before, I just can't recall where, I'll tell you if I remember, sorry"
"Don't worry about it, is there a library in this city?"
Reniris was the one who spoke this time, she also gave Eon a light pat on the shoulder as thanks for asking in her stead.
"Considering the state this city is in, I doubt it. You'll have go to the nearby city or the capital"
Reniella informed as she took another sip before frowning as she realised that her tea was now cold.
"Well that's the end of our talk we'll be leaving you princess"
Eon stood up as he said and Reniella gave him a nod, and told him they'll see each next time, the two then exited the room just as a man with unusually large hands passed by then to enter the room.
The man was being followed by two others, Baron Philemon and Apphia, Apphia flinched just slightly as she took a glance at Eon. Something neither Reniris nor Eon noticed.
"let's go adventuring, and actually make some money"

A/N: hopefully the info dump wasn't too much or too boring.
