In a moment, faster than an instant, they both charged forth, they clashed, and the resulting shockwave caused dust to be kicked up in the air, momentarily obscuring the vision of the spectators.
Siegfrued had planned to swing his thin blade aiming to slice the blight in two in a single attack, however, Eon was quick to intercept and block the attack by grabbing the wrist of the hand that held the blade.
Siegfrued's eyes widened just slightly in a bit of shock, he hadn't expected such resistance, he had thought this would be an execution rather than a battle, his initial shock was then followed by a frown, he didn't like the resistance from the blight.
'Steel arts: reinforce'
His body glowed a silver hue, as he reinforced his body and increased his strength, with the increased strength he pushed against Eon's arm that held him, forcing Eon to bend his elbow and allowing his sword to move closer.
Eon decided not to resist, instead he directed the hand upwards before ducking down and letting the attack fly over his head. He then quickly placed both his hands on the ground, supporting himself before…
*BAM!!*
He used both his legs to kick his foe on the stomach and sending him sliding back a few metres. Eon then positioned him into a handstand before using his hands to jump up, do a flip, and landing back down with his feet.
The moment the fight began, the spectators had quickly retreated onto the rooftops while others looked through the windows of their homes.
The man who boasted his strength in the guild would finally be seen for what he was, the adventurers watched with keen interest and Reniris could only watch in worry for her friend, he was certainly strong but the look on his face earlier made her uneasy.
"I see"
Siegfrued said, dusting off the dirt on his blazer. His words did not convey it, but his anger was mounting. It was utterly unacceptable that he let the blight touch, let alone resist him.
"I don't know what happened, blight, but you got strong"
He praised or rather acknowledged the reality before him, however regardless If the blight had gotten strong he wasn't stronger than him, the king had failed to kill it so it fell on to him as the eldest son to follow through.
The stain on the Dreyer family needed to be erased, and he will erase it by any means.
"And I see you're still a bitch!!"
Eon responded with more animosity in his voice than he would have liked, he was not Nathaniel, he had no reason to hate and despise the man before him.
He could easily just let this fight end by explaining to him or by not attacking at all yet there was this thing in him that told him to fight, fight for the child that could not fight for themselves before.
It was perhaps a mixture of his desire for a fight and a small amount of guilt he thought he didn't feel that pushed him to fight even though he didn't need to.
Once again they moved, this time Eon being the one who charged in first, fist cocked back and aiming for the face.
Siegfrued held his blade with both hands before swiftly stepping to the side letting the fist barely graze his cheek, this allowed his foe to be right before him, it would be difficult to dodge his next attack.
*SWISH!*
His sword moved, cutting through the air, aimed at Eon's torso and it connected with his shirt cutting through it before making contact with his skin.
Feeling the cold steel make contact, Eon was quick to jump back, avoiding a cut that would have been fatal, however the blade had managed to cut a small straight line on his torso, and drew blood.
However Eon wasn't shocked he felt the cut, if he hadn't jumped back in time he probably would have been split in two halves.
Beads of sweat showed themselves on his forehead and an uneasy smile was on his face.
'That sword is dangerous'
He thought, even Jericho with his runic sword could not cut him, that must mean the sword Siegfrued had was of a higher grade, which makes sense, after all it must be expensive and no noble would give a higher grade runic sword to a knight that's just going to a village near the border.
'This is what I wanted'
The uneasy smile on his turned into a grin, this is what he was here for, his blood was pumping and heart was racing, he had barely tasted the thrill of battle.
Siegfrued took a stance, with the blade pointing straight towards his current enemy and the arm that held it bent and pulled back, his body glowed a blue hue.
"Water arts: flowing thrust"
His body burst forth, in a swift forward motion, like a fast flowing river, greater in both speed and intensity, It took little time for him to reach his enemy.
Eon aptly dodged to the side, the attack barely dodging the attack, he suffered a small cut on his cheek, once again drawing blood, however this time Siegfrued didn't let up. Seeing that his attack missed, he turned the blade on its side and swung at Eon's neck.
The blade left bright blue streaks as it moved towards the neck of Siegfrued's opponent.
Eon ducked down once again letting the blade fly over his head, and then used his legs to trip his opponent, forcing him off balance and causing him to fall on his side.
However Siegfrued acted fast, he let go of his blade, placing his hand on the ground catching himself from falling , he then used this opportunity to throw a kick towards Eon's head. His leg glowed a silver hue as he used steel arts to reinforce the strength and hardness of his leg.
*BAM!*
The leg landed but Eon was able to block the kick with his forearm, although the force behind it caused him to feel a tingling sensation on his arm.
He then grabbed the assaulting foot before throwing his opponent onto the nearby houses, Siegfrued's body crashed through various walls.
"H'eus' shit?!! That guy is using both water arts and Steel arts, that's crazy!!"
An adventurer that was close to Reniris exclaimed as he watched, causing Reniris to turn to him and ask curiously.
"What's so special about that?"
She asked and the man turned towards her. He paused as he saw her face up close, he then cleared his throat and spoke.
"It's special because those two martial arts styles are incompatible with each other, or at least that's what I thought, but that guy is effortlessly switching between the two, it's a display of incredible talent, whoever he is he's definitely strong"
Reniris didn't properly understand but the gist of it is that the person Eon was currently battling was a talented individual, which didn't help alleviate her worry.
He had trusted her to handle her own battle as such she should trust him to handle his own yet, that look of fear he had on his face stuck to her and she couldn't help but worry even more.
Siegfrued recovered quickly and sprung out of the house, this time his face showed his emotions, the anger he felt inwardly was clear on his face.
However there was another emotion on his face and that was disbelief, the blight was fighting him, it had the strength to fight back? Where did it get the strength from?
Such curious questions were on his mind however his goal was still the same, one could say such questions only served to amplify the need to kill Eon, after all a blight shouldn't be able to even touch him so he had to kill it.
"What's wrong? Is this blight too strong for you to handle?"
Eon asked with an unhidden mockery, one that forced a frown on Siegfrued's face, to be insulted by the stain only made his anger greater.
Picking up his sword he took another stance ready to attack.
"Humph! Don't think because you can decently fight that you're strong, you're still nothing but a weak shit stain in my eyes"
"Well If a shit stain like me can keep up with you, Then what does that make you?"
Eon responded with a wide grin on his face, he couldn't help but feel a bit excited, back on earth he used to have dreams like this.
