Unfortunately for him this is how he'll live at least until someone either makes a phone or something similar he can play music with but for now he'll have to settle for the chatting voice of the princess and Reniris.
However, while the two women were discussing Reniris' problem and Eon tried to sleep, another discussion was taking place in another room within the same house.
Baron Philemon stared at that holographic image of the Prince. The baron was in a kneeled position. His assistant Apphia did the same beside him. However, she kept her head down, not looking up.
"How is my sister doing over there? Baron Philemon"
Under normal circumstances, the prince wouldn't use the communication box to contact Philemon as it's not entirely secure, but sometimes, if he wants specific information, he will contact Philemon in such a way.
This way of contact can also help him present a false image to whomever may be listening in.
"She's doing great, Your Highness, with her help the city managed to flush out a lot of criminal activities, but her search for demons has been fruitless so far"
Philemon gave a report. Of course, despite phrasing his report in a positive way, the princess uncovering the criminal activities within the city was not a good thing, at least not for the prince.
"That's good, if her search for demons resulted in such a positive for the kingdom then that's good, however since she's found no demons, what about the possibility of spies from the Dreyer kingdom? Have you seen anything suspicious?"
The prince responded, despite his calm, neutral tone and expression, deep down he was not calm at all, Reniella practically ruined his plans.
Normally a city like Rix, where crime is so rampant, it wouldn't be overlooked by the noble court and an attempt would be made, however with his interference he made it so that no one was the wiser, as long as the city fulfilled its tax obligation then no one would look into it.
By keeping such a city like that, It would make the royal family more importantly, the king seem incompetent and uncaring, something the prince can use to his advantage.
"There are two individuals that the princess was friendly with, both from the Dreyer kingdom or at least I assume as one of them is a prince"
Alexius raised a brow at such words, the only prince from the Dreyer kingdom that should be at Rix or close to it should be Siegfrued but Reniella wouldn't house Siegfrued and in order to win the sword tournament without issue Siegfrued would probably want cripple or kill Reniella..
"Is it Siegfrued?"
"No your highness, it's someone else. He has silver hair and eyes, but Prince Siegfrued did arrive and have a fight with this person"
"I think I know who you're talking about. It's most likely the failure Nathaniel. He's the youngest within the Royal family of the Dreyer kingdom. Did Siegfrued kill him?"
He was a bit disappointed that Siegfrued didn't do as he had hoped he would do, but that was fine for the time being. He just had to prepare something for the tournament.
"I'm afraid not, Prince Siegfrued had a short battle with this person and was eventually driven out by the Princess"
Alexius raised another brow as he heard Philemon. He wanted to question him a bit more. However, chose not to.
Alexius's understanding of Nathaniel was that he was considered a talentless blight, meaning someone like Siegfrued would easily kill him without much thought, and from what he had heard from Siegfrued, Nathaniel was dead.
"I see. Thank you for the report, Baron. I'll contact you again shortly"
Alexius said before the holographic image vanished, leaving Philemon to let out a relieved sigh.
On the other side, however, Alexius couldn't help but enter into deep contemplation.
If the information given to him by Philemon is true then that means the blight of the Dreyer family is still alive not only that but he managed to get powerful enough to be able to battle Siegfrued, at least not get killed instantly by Siegfrued.
"So that means he's either got a weapon that helped him be able to stand against Siegfrued, or he got strong enough to be able to fight Siegfrued for long enough to get back up"
In either case, both mean that the failure of a cousin has acquired something that made him less of a failure, and that means he can also acquire it or alternatively steal it or the information from Nathaniel.
However, the first thing he needs to do is confirm his suspicions.
"Sorry Nathaniel, but I'll have to cause some trouble for you"
He whispered to himself before he put the crystalline cube back where it was and went to call a maid to his room.
…..
He found himself in the darkness, well it wasn't darkness but rather a house that was pitch black with vague white outlines depicting every corner and detail of the house giving him a vague idea of the space he was in, He could clearly see the outline of the coffee table he'd put his feet on when relaxing and watching anime.
He could see the outline of the door to his small bathroom and the outline to the door that led to his bedroom.
The house he was in was eerily silent. It made him feel as though he was deaf, stomping his foot made no sound and clapping his hands made no noise, it was unsettling.
He walked around the outline of the couch, towards his room, his steps silent, it felt like he was stepping into nothing, like the very ground he walked wasn't there at all.
He arrived at the door that led to his bedroom and grabbed the knob and he opened. The door opened and revealed himself lying on the bed staring at the ceiling.
He laid the legs straight and arms at his sides and just stared at the ceiling, his body not moving a single muscle aside from the rise and fall of his chest as he breathed.
He remembered this, this was something he did back on Earth, whether before work or after it, before dinner or after it, before watching an anime, a movie, a series or afterwards, it was one of the few things he looked forward to doing everyday.
He put on his earphones and listened to the most fire OST on his phone, then just lay on the bed and simply daydream, about whatever he was in the mood to daydream about.
Nothing was too outlandish, and nothing was too tame. After watching an amazing show, it always excited him to imagine himself within that show, and have an exciting and interesting life there with the colourful cast of characters
He had no friends to speak to, no family to engage with and no spouse to argue with, his life was boring and he was bored of his life, everyday bled into the other, monday was just tuesday and tuesday was just another monday, the weekend wasn't special but just the same as any other day.
It was empty, devoid of any significance or purpose, just an existing person with hardly a life worth living, he wasn't rich enough to afford to go out and even when he did he had no one to go out with, him going to a restaurant would be the same as eating at home if not worse.
People were annoying, he didn't like that, always loud and obnoxious, there was no reason to laugh so hard at a joke that wasn't even funny, such things made him…
It also didn't help that he worked at customer service and had interactions with the most most annoying and dumbest people in the world.
He couldn't fathom how anyone could come up with the phrase "the customer is always right", despite his distaste for his job it was still the only place he felt something other than a dull and emotional numbness
With a huff through his nostrils, he closed the door and smiled and turned his back on the door and walked forward.
However despite not wanting to, his legs carried him towards the door that led to the bathroom, with slight trepidation he opened it and what was revealed was not a bathroom but instead another bedroom, however this time the person inside was seated on the bed staring down at the floor.
He could see small drops of water drip from the person's face and landed on the floor. They were crying.
He immediately frowned and closed the door and turned to the side facing to his left side.
"That wasn't me"
He said but no words came out, but instead it was just a movement of his lips, something that made his frown deeper, forcing him to speak those words again as if trying to affirm them but again his voice was silent.
Seeing the futility of trying to speak he huffed angrily and walked away, deciding to move away from the door and he went towards the door that would lead to the exit, he had no business being in here, at least not anymore.
With that in mind, he arrived before the door that would lead him out. He opened it, and he was engulfed by a blinding white light, forcing him to close his eyes.
